This boy is getting mobile!

You may have noticed that it is now Wednesday and I am just now getting around to updating our blog. It has been an extremely hectic week at work, resulting in long hours and late nights, many of which involved Jett being with me at the office in the evenings. Lucky for me, all of my wonderful co-workers and friends are thrilled to entertain him and pass him around while I get things done. Of course, Jett enjoys all of the attention so this works well for him. However, Jett has become quite mobile and wants to crawl around and pull himself up on everything. I have to make sure that all of the paperclips and staples are picked up off of the floor before I put him down because, no doubt, he will put them directly into his mouth. Now that he is Mr. Independent, he does NOT like for you to change his diaper or dress him. My mother-in-law was trying to change a dirty diaper last week and before she could reach for the diaper wipe, Jett had flipped over and took off down the hallway....dirty rear-end and all. She had quite the mess and had to pick him up, take him to the bathroom, and hose him off. Good times! Here is Jett running from me (or to me) Saturday morning after his bath. How cute is he?!?!?!?

I think along with mobility came the urge to check out every nook and cranny in our house and every object in it. This weekend alone he found tissues, toothepaste, and my Yankee Candle plug-ins. He has also decided that he really likes to pull himself up to stand on things and walk to us while we hold his fingers. This has become one very busy little guy. (In the tissue pictures below, he was sleepy and rubbing his eyes, not crying.)

We went to my mother-in-law's on Sunday so Bobby could work on their garbage disposal, and Jett was not quite sure what to think about his harmonee's pepper plant. I had to move him away from it when he started trying to eat them. Bobby's mom loves to garden and she has about every kind of fruit, vegetable, and flower you can imagine. Her yard is gorgeous and I keep hoping that her gardening skills will rub off on me, and so far....not happening. Here are some pictures from our visit on Sunday, and one of him at the house Sunday evening.

After we left Bobby's parents on Sunday we went to the Cheesecake Factory to eat dinner. We arrived at approximately 4:00 PM and there was an hour wait. We decided that what the heck, it would be worth it, so we waited. OK, so actually, Bobby waited. Jett and I walked over to the mall to do a little shopping for an hour :) Just as we were leaving Gymboree, Bobby called and said that our table was ready so we headed back across the street. (Side note: When we got back to the restaurant, Jett's diaper was soaking wet so I went to the bathroom to change him, only to discover that they don't have a changing station in the ladies room. How crazy is that?) The food was amazing and I was impressed with the fact that they brought Jett a baby plate of bread and bananas. We also let him taste our yummy chocolate peanut butter cookie dough cheesecake so that we could get this adorable picture of him with chocolate all over his mouth. Here are some pic's of him at dinner. (FYI: We did not leave the restaurant until after 6:30. It took us longer to eat there than at The Melting Pot, but SO worth it).

I hope everyone has a great week, and all of you who were patiently awaiting new pic's, I will try to do better next week!

Christian Jett is 9 Months Old!

Can you believe it?!? Jett is 9 months old as of last Friday. I almost broke down several times last week just thinking about the fact that in a few months it will be time to start planning a big 1 year birthday party. Where does the time go? Bobby and I were talking this weekend about how fast the past 9 months have gone by. It is hard for me to imagine that a year ago I was just starting to decorate his room and choose what outfit he would be wearing home from the hospital. Those times were so precious, but every day with him just gets better and better. He is the most entertaining kid to watch because as my mom puts it, he is a "thinking man". You can almost see the wheels just turning is his head. He LOVES Tiffany and she is the first thing he looks for when I get him out of bed in the morning. He plays on he floor by her, and she lets him tug at her ears and pull up on her. Here are some cute pictures I took of them playing the other morning.

Saturday was mine and Bobby's 3 year wedding anniversary. We celebrated our wedding day by going to a friend's wedding. My mom, grandma, and aunt tried to convince me that Jett did not really want to attend the wedding, that he really wanted to stay with them. You know me, I couldn't leave him, so he went with us to the wedding. Bad idea. Things were going well until he got bored while waiting for the wedding to start. My friend Mendy gave him her keys and that pacified him for a while until he dropped them, and by the time Bobby crawled under the chair to get them, he was already starting to get mad. I had Bobby take him out to the car for a minute while he stopped fussing, and before I knew it, here they came and Jett was sucking on a bottle, but I noticed it was not milk. I asked Bobby what he was drinking and he said "whatever you had in your cup in the car". Well, it was sweet tea. Not a good thing. I took the bottle away from him because all I could think about was rotted out, stained teeth, and the fact that he would probably never fall asleep that night.
That just made him even more angry, so needless to say, we missed most of the wedding. Next time maybe I will listen to my mom, grandma, and aunt. Here are some pictures we took at the house before the wedding. Notice Jett is really into pulling up on things now.

Today was pretty uneventful. We went out to eat this afternoon and for a walk this evening. It was nice for us all to spend the day together without a list a mile long of things to do. My aunt and uncle headed back to Plano today, but they brought Jett a really neat book. A friend of my aunt and uncle's wrote it and then another friend's son illustrated it. The book is called Flu at the Zoo. I read to Jett a lot because I want him to enjoy reading as much as I do. Here are some pictures of him with his new book.

Fun week ending with a sick, sick family.....

Last week started off so good. On Tuesday, Bobby and I took Jett swimming for the first time. He loves the water, so I was anxious to see how he would do. He loved it. He loves to "splash, splash" and does it on command since we have tought him to "splash, splash" in the bathtub. He could have stayed in the pool and played for hours, but Bobby and I were getting tired and hot, so we headed home for a fun- filled evening (which would lead to more fun-filled evenings) of re-arranging furniture. You know, when you decide to move big, heavy furniture from upstairs downstairs, and then hate the way it looks, so you move it all back to the way it was to begin with a few days later. Not so much fun. After the swimming and hours of moving furniture that weighs about a thousand pounds more than I do, I was exhausted and not feeling so hot. Here are several pictures we snapped from the more exciting part of our afternoon on Tuesday. Isn't he just the cutest thing you have ever seen?!?!?!?!? What a happy boy!

Jett has really mastered the technique of crawling and is pretty fast. I have to really keep my eyes on him because he is fascinated with the toilet...of all things.
He also has decided that his toys are not near as much fun as daddy's toy (the remote control), mommy's toy (the telephone), or other fun objects in the kitchen.
He is also trying to pull up on things now (especially me). He never really had an interest in pulling up before, but now he has decided that since he is mobile, it might be fun to stand. He tries to stand up while he is crawling and we just laugh at him. He will push himself up onto his tippy-toes while crawling, extend his legs out as far as possible, and lift one hand off of the ground, wanting so badly for the other hand to come up also so that he could be upright. Probably not for a while, but his attempts are cute! Here are some shots we got just playing around throughout the week.

Jett and I got to have dinner with our friend Amy on Wednesday for her birthday, and although he was feeling a little under the weather, we had a great time and enjoyed her company. Over the weekend, we went to Utica and shopped a little, and then I was at the PGA on Sunday. It is kind of funny in our family because I am the one who loves sports and being outside (not that I understand all of the rules, I just like being in the middle of it all and just watching...it's more of a social thing for me :). My hubby on the other hand, could care less unless it involves speed or adrenaline (or the Steelers). He actually had VIP dinner passes for Thursday night and gave them to one of his employees. Is he nuts or what!?!?!?! Here is a cute picture of Jett playing with my lanyard from the tournament (and a few of daddy feeding him watermelon for the first time...on the carpet, ugh...)

I don't have many other fun things to tell right now, as my whole family has fallen ill. I don't know what in the world we have caught, but all 2 of us have a horrible bug. We have been so lucky to make it almost 9 months without Jett being sick at all. Pray that we recover from this junk and have a great week!!

Really bad, really busy week......

I am a little late posting this week, as it has been a really long, not so good one.
The week started off ok and then went downhill from there. I had some major stresses at work this week, and then just as that seemed to be getting better, it was time to do a 5K run Friday night, a Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, a hair appointment Saturday afternoon, and a baby shower on Sunday. I was also supposed to go by OBI and give blood, but that didn't happen. This may have been much easier to deal with, but Jett has decided lately that he only wants his mommy. I love the fact that he is so attached to me, but it was extremely hard for me to do things knowing that he might be fussing or crying for me and I wasn't there to hold him. Thanks to my friend Danielle Friday night, I was able to run the 5K. He cried at first, but then she began walking around with him and he got distracted by the music and calmed down. As soon as I saw her thumbs up sign, me and my friend Shanna took off for our run (3 minutes behind everyone else....oh well). We had a great time and the kiddo's looked so cute in the little shirts we made for them. Here are some pictures from the walk/run.

On Saturday morning I had to be up bright and early for our Volleyball Tournament. We arrived at 7:30am only to discover that we weren't scheduled to play until 10:00. Luckily, our coach was kind enough to buy everyone breakfast and we all had a great time hanging out in the tent chatting until time to play. After the game was over I rushed home so that Bobby, Tiffany, and I could go for a jog (Jett was with his gramma and Nenal) and then showered and headed to Owasso for our hair appointment.
From there we picked up Jett, headed back to Tulsa to eat, which was a nightmare because I think everyone in the United States is in Tulsa right now for the PGA, and then we went to the mall for some tax free shopping.
Jett was in a great mood.....as long as mommy was holding him. He wouldn't even go to Bobby very easily in the mall, which made me feel bad because Bobby was wanting to carry him. Yes, I said carry. We don't make him ride in his stroller. We are SO bad. We take the stroller for the sole purpose of transporting our purchases.
On Sunday I helped host a shower for my great friend Neena, who is one of the best, cutest, sweetest people I have ever met. I felt horrible though because, once again, Jett was demanding all of my attention and I didn't get to spend as much time with her as I would have liked. Hopefully we can make up for it when baby boy Coloney arrives. Also at the shower was my friend Emily that I used to work with and her baby Caleb. I had been dying to see them, and Emily looked super cute as always. Caleb is SUCH a little heartbreaker. Or, more accurately, a big heartbreaker. He makes Jett look like a shrimp. I was laughing because Caleb had on shorts and they actually looked like shorts on him rather than walking shorts, or "clam diggers" as my family usedto call them. My friend Tricia was there also with 2 of her gorgeous little girls Emma and Brianna. Emma was quite the little momma to Jett. She loves baby Jett and always wants to hold "her". Here are some pic's.

Finally, it is Monday and things are looking up this week. Today started of good at work and I am thrilled to have tomorrow and Wednesday off to spend with Jett. It is also my best friend's birthday on Wednesday so we are going to have dinner. Less than 2 months before baby Abby's arrival date and I am counting down. Maybe by then Jett will be more social. I took some cute pictures of him tonight playing with his squash (before I mashed and blended it for him) and sharing his puffs with Tiffany. Also included is a picture of Tiffany attempting to snatch a puff from on top of the stove while I was taking pictures of Jett. I hope everyone has a wonderful week. I know I will since I will have 2 days full of Jett and mommy time. He may never let go of me after 2 extra days of spoiling. It is a good thing I love having him next to me at all times. What a sweet, sweet momma's boy! He makes all of my bad days better.
