Train and Firetruck obsession

It has become apparent that Jett's new obsessions are choo-choo trains and firetrucks. My mom and I have been taking him to Barnes and Noble every Wednesday, and as soon as we pull into the parking lot, he starts saying "go see choo-choo train ober dare" and pointing to the front door. As soon as we get in the store, he takes off running as fast as he can to the back of the store where the train set is. I really need to get him a Thomas the Train DVD to watch, but I have tried so hard not to start the whole TV watching thing with him yet. Not because I think it is bad for kids to watch TV, but because I know that once he sees those trains on the television, he will be hooked! I resisted the temptation of the DVD, but the other night while grocery shopping, Jett spotted the Thomas the Train toothbrush that plays music so I decided to buy it for him. Let me just say that I suspect he has the cleanest teeth of any child in Tulsa because all he has done since we got it home is brush his teeth. Now if I could just get him to understand that toothpaste is not candy and he can't keep sucking it off of the toothbrush.

Yesterday we went to Owasso to visit my mom and grandma, so of course, Jett had a great day playing with his firetruck, eating ice cream, and taking turns letting each of us read him books. What a life!

Firetrucks, another new obsession

Reading nenal a book

Yum! Cake batter ice cream.

While at my grandma's house, Jett spotted a hairy caterpillar on the front porch.
What is that disgusting thing?

This face cracks me up. He doesn't look to sure about that nasty bug.

After we got home Saturday night, Jett snuggled up with Bobby while the OU game was one. Go Sooners!!

We had planned to go to the Tulsa State Fair this weekend, but while on a walk earlier this week, Bobby stepped on a twig and snapped his ankle. It was still pretty swollen and purple, so we will probably do the fair next weekend. Today we took Jett to Toys R Us and let him try out motorized cars. We were planning on getting him one for his birthday, but wanted to make sure his legs were long enough.
He understands that he needs to push the pedal to make it go, but he hasn't figured out that he has to steer at the same time to avoid hitting things like me, Bobby, and the metal shelves at the toy store. Here is Jett playing in my car this afternoon (in firetruck overalls, imagine that!)

The Great Outdoors

Is anyone else loving this fall like weather as much as we are?!?!? It is so nice to be able to go outside and stay out there for more than 15 minutes without breaking a sweat. Last Monday Jett and I met my friend Shanna and her nephew Addison at the park. It was so nice outside, and they boys had a great time. It was so funny to watch Jett follow Addison around and copy everything he was doing. It was also cute to hear Jett refer to Addison as Madison. I have no idea where this came from, but that is what he always calls him.

We have a creek that runs through our neighborhood, and Jett absolutely loves for me to walk him down there and let him throw rocks in the water. We were on our way out the door to the "creek water" as Jett calls it, and he noticed his tug boat, so it had to go along. I never take my camera because I am so afraid of dropping it, but I got brave this time and decided to try to get some pictures of him at the creek because he loves it so much!

Our friends own the Safari's Sanctuary in Broken Arrow, so today after church we ran home, changed clothes, and headed out to see all of the animals. I highly recommend Safari's for anyone who has kids (or even those who don't) because they have such a great variety of animals, and unlike the zoo, you can get right up next to them, and even feed them. Jett was such a brave boy. He walked up to and touched almost everything.
Putting animal cookies down the pipe for the black bear to munch on.

I don't know about that kitty, it's pretty big

Are you sure it doesn't bite?

We just happened to be at the zoo on the day they gave the hairless cat a bath.

After all the fun and excitement, Jett got sick to his stomach on the way home. Poor little guy. I had the same thing yesterday, so I am hoping that we just had some type of 24 hour bug. I hate to see him not feeling well. He is so much fun at this age. The other day I was struggling to get his stroller out of the back of Bobby's truck, and when I finally got it, he said "good job mommy!!" Everywhere we go, people seem amazed at how well he talks. If people only knew how much Bobby and I talk, they would probably not be nearly as surprised:)
Last but not least, Amy and I went Friday evening and bought Bret Michaels tickets!! We are SO excited, and we are in the 5th row. When I called Bobby to tell him the good news, his response was "you mean 5 rows worth of tickets have already sold?" He may not be a Bret fan, but Amy and I can't wait until Oct. 23rd!! Pleather pants from the 90's, here we come:)

Go shorty, it's your birthday......

We're gonna party like it's your birthday! That was Jett's motto last weekend. I kept telling him we were going to Abby's party, and that Abby would be getting new toys. All weekend he kept saying "Abby's party...Abby's toys". Maybe mentioning toys was not a good idea because that led Jett to believe that he should be opening (and playing with) all of Abby's fun new things. Being the patient, lovely, sweet, and fabulous hostess Amy is, she allowed Jett to tear in to most of Abby's gifts.

Funny how Jett has most of the same toys, but for some reason, when they belong to someone else they are much more fun.

One thing Jett is never willing to share these days is mommy. He is super jealous of Abby, and anytime I try to hold or love on her, he starts pushing her and saying "mommy, NO, mommy, NO!". I took advantage of having lots of people around to entertain him at the party, and snuck in some cuddle time with the birthday princess!
Isn't she just absolutely precious?!?!? In the second picture he finally realized that she was on my lap so he had to climb up next to me . Bobby was able to distract him by doing a little Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Little Miss September!

I can't believe that Abby is finally one, and that Jett is getting closer and closer to the big 2. Where is the pause button?!?!? Here are some cute pictures of cake time!

After the party, we ran by my grandma's so that Jett could see nenal and gramma. He always wants to play in my grandma's backyard. I think he likes it because it is big and flat, unlike our backyard that is nothing but a big hill that our house is built in to.

He also enjoys getting to munch on french fries when we go to nenals house. More accurately, he enjoys dipping the fries in ketchup, sucking the ketchup off, and then dipping them again.

Other than Abby's party and getting caught in heavy rain while riding our bikes on Saturday, our weekend was pretty uneventful. I hope all of our friends from Texas (or anywhere else that had bad weather) are safe and dry now that Ike has passed through.
