A day trip, and a day for the history books

This week Amy and I decided to take the kids on a mini road trip to Bartlesville. "Why?" you may ask...There is a GAP outlet there that we occassionally have to go check out. They don't always have the greatest deals, but I was able to snatch up 3 shirts for Jett for under $10.00! Other than 2 kids crying the whole way there, 2 kids not interested in shopping for clothes, and 1 mommy (that would be me)losing her wallet at the water fountain, it was a good day. My wallet was recovered by mall security and nothing had been removed. Luckily, I had used my last $3.00 in cash to get Amy and I drinks before we left Owasso, and we had let the kiddo's throw all of my change into the mall water fountain. What a day! At least I was with Amy though, and we can have a good time not matter how chaotic the day becomes. Before we left that morning Abby and Jett enjoyed playing in the ball pit at Amy's house.

The alligator xylaphone caught Jett's attention right away.

After we got back from Bartlesville, Jett and I headed to my grandma's house. She has a huge box of crayons from my childhood (I am shocked they even leave color on the paper as old as they are), and Jett loves for us to draw pictures on a blank sheet of paper and let him color them. Of course with Jett, he usually asks us to draw some type of animal, shape, or truck. Kinda makes me realize how much I lack in artistic ability.

January 20, 2009, Inaguration Day. My mom has always pounded into my head how important it is not to be prejudiced, and how important it is to love everyone regardless of their ethnic background, religion, etc. I don't think I ever realized the importance of those life lessons until I married someone with a different ethnic background than mine and had a bi-racial child (although you would never know by looking at him). Even if we don't always agree with Obama's politics, I think the fact that the majority of Americans were able to open their arms and minds to change and hope should make everyone proud. I have never felt more proud to be an American than when Obama took his oath of office on Tuesday. I attempted to get a picture of Jett in front of the TV, but this was the only shot I could get before he was off to other things.

These plastic grapes are much more fun that watching that boring stuff on TV....where are the cartoons?!?! And how good am I that I happened to snap this shot at the exact moment that Bon Jovi's name appears in the bottom left hand side of the screen?!? So appropriate since I have been obsessed with him since I was a teenager and can still sing "You give love a bad name" word for word.

Bobby's uncle was a proud contributor to the Obama campaign, so we ended up with several shirts, pins, and mouse pads. Here is Jett sporting his Obama/Biden pin.

This weekend was pretty uneventful. We didn't do much yesterday, and this morning we arrived at church 20 minutes late to a full parking lot and sat in the sactuary for about.10 seconds before Jett started talking out loud and we had to excuse ourselves into the lobby where Jett proceeded to dump an entire bag of mini teddy grahams on the floor. Yikes! Jett is definitely becoming a busy, busy guy. I think this whole 2 year old phase is going to wipe me completely out! It is so much fun, and I love and enjoy him now more than ever though. He continues to say the funniest things. Today after we left church he said "Mommy, I had fun!". I told him I was glad that he had fun, especially since we were only there for about 10 minutes. He wanted me to draw a giraffe earlier today so I picked up what I thought was a black crayon to draw on the spots, and the crayon turned out to be blue. Jett said "the giraffe has blueberries on it!". Tonight Bobby went to Braums and brought home a banana split. Yum! Here is Jett indulging before bedtime. Are we starting bad habits or what!?!? Have a great week!

For some reason I could not get spell check to work, so I apologize for all of the spelling/grammar errors you may notice reading this.

Mommy's a slacker

I know, I know....another late post. I was so good for a while updating every Sunday night, but for some reason I can't get with the program lately. I think it may have more to do with the fact that I have spoiled Jett to falling asleep with me in my bed every night, so by the time he finally crashes and I get up to put him in his crib, I am not motivated to climb the stairs. Ha! I guess I can't brag anymore about how easy he is to put down at night, although I do love listening to his sweet little voice chattering away beside me while I am pretending to sleep, with the occasional "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy......." to see if I will respond. Earlier this week I made a pot of tortilla soup and invited Abby and Amy over to eat dinner and watch The Bachelor. I have never really watched it before, but since everyone else was talking about it, I decided to see what the fuss was all about. Now I am hooked! I don't know that we really saw that much of last Monday's episode (thank goodness for DVR's) because we were chasing around two VERY busy toddlers. Here was our night in a nutshell. Fun!

Shooting a few hoops

So much for my coffee bean end-table decor.....

A little pillow gymnastics

Riding on Tiffy while she attempts to "vaccum" up the rest of the coffee beans

More pic's of Monday night getting ready for bed. Brushing teeth and loving on Tiffy and the Binky Bear.

Jett loves his bears. He prefers the green bear, but every once and a while Mommy has to sneak it into the washing machine. This does not make Jett happy.

Giving Tiffany good night kisses

My camera has been acting up lately and for some reason all of my pictures are not very clear, and many of them are so blurry I end up deleting them. Bobby and I stopped by the Camera Gallery on Saturday to see what the experts had to say about it. The gentleman took one look at my Rebel and said "This camera is very loved." Translation: It's dead, you need a new one. Now I am torn between getting a new Rebel like my old one, or trying out a Nikkon. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to speak up. While my hubby was trying out different lenses on mine, Jett and I browsed around. I didn't realize that he was snapping shots of us until I got home and uploaded my pictures last night. Too funny.

This is one test shot that I did know about. Can you tell Mr. Jett is battling another nasty cold. Poor guy.

Saturday night while I was doing laundry, I walked into the bedroom to find Bobby and Jett snuggled up watching Charlotte's Web. After the movie, Jett decided he wasn't quite ready for bed yet and decided to try out our bed as a trampoline.
Yikes!

Bobby put several Veggie Tale songs on his Ipod and Jett absolutely loves them. One of his favorites is "If your happy and you know it".
If your happy and you know it clap your hands

If your happy and you know it stomp your feet

If your happy and you know it then your face will surely show it......

Also new this week is Jett's ability to recognize the letter "J" and "T". I was so proud the other day when he say the "J" on my track suit zipper and said "J is for Jett!", then tonight he was playing with his magnetic letters on the dishwasher and said "T is for Jett". I guess T is sort of for Jett??? He is such a funny little guy. That's about all I have for now. I hope everyone has a good week.

Late post, and the shortest one ever

I apologize for the late post to all of those who have been asking why there were no new pictures of Mr. Jett first thing Monday morning. It was a really busy week that ended for me with a 2 night scrapbook retreat at a fabulous Bed and Breakfast wih a group of fanastic and fun gals! I am happy to report that we were wined, dined, and pampered, and I can now brag that I am completely caught up on Jett's pictures! How exciting. I have to say though, I was SO ready to get home to my hubby and sweet baby boy! I made a video of him on my cell phone so that I could hear his sweet little voice while I was away. Now for some not so good news. The Sooners lost last week to Florida in the Big 12 Championship, but we were still cheering them on Thursday night at my grandma's house, and I made sure that Jett was sporting one of his OU sweatshirts.

During the third quarter, Jett decided that he would rather splash around in the bathtub than watch football. Here is my little man splishing and splashing!

Like I said, this must be my shortest post ever. Maybe this week will be much more exciting!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Years, from Jett!

I will we brief tonight because I have a lot of pictures, and because Jett opted to stay up all night and play with his choo-choo train last night so I am exhausted! I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year! We didn't do anything exciting New Years Eve, but on New Years Day we enjoyed a late lunch with Abby and Amy, did a little shopping, and then treated the kids (and ourselves) to Maggie Moo's.

Amy and I reminisced about how several years ago (probably about 10) we were headed to a party in a small town outside of Bartlesville that was being thrown by one of her co-workers, and we got lost and decided to have the police escort us there. How were we supposed to know that there would be tons of intoxicated people (many of them under age) running around?!?!? Needless to say, everyone had a good laugh at our expense. Sadly enough, we were both probably too naive to even think people would be doing stuff like that. Times are much more fun now with these two around!

Mom and I met up New Years morning and headed to see Marley and Me. If you are a dog lover, this is a MUST see! We cried our eyes out, but it was so realistic and a cute love story! This was actually one of the few movies that I have liked as well as the book. Here is a picture of me and my 80 lb lap dog, and Jett with his Tiffy. Awe....

Saturday the weather was absolutely amazing, so Bobby and I decided to take Jett to the Safari's. It was last minute, but I hated to let such a great day get away from us without doing something fun outdoors. Jett loved the animals, as always, and so did we!

That's about all for now. I am trying to psych myself up to be away from home next weekend for the very first time ever since we've had Jett. I am going to a scrapbook retreat with my good friend Jamie in Enid (3 hours away....YIKES), but I am sure Jett will be having a ball with Daddy and Gramma. I will be much more devastated than him probably, for sure. Maybe I will at least learn how to use my cool Cricut that I got for Christmas. Anyways, say a prayer that I wont get too homesick. Have a great week!
