Finally, a weekend at home with NO plans

Wow! This weekend was so nice because it was the first in a long time that we had absolutely zero plans for Saturday and Sunday. Jett is at the age now where he gets more excited about things such as the zoo, walks, the park, etc. In the past, we would go and he would enjoy it, but he knows now to request going certain places and doing specific things. This weekend Bobby and I decided to go for a jog, so we packed up and headed to the river. On our way we pulled into QT, and Jett immediately said " I want some Gatorade, daddy". It's so funny that he associates QT now with drinks. He has actually done this for quite some time, and it really shows how routine we are about doing things! After we got a drink we headed to the river, and as we turned in Jett got really excited about the park. After our jog we rested for a bit while Jett played in the new splash pad.

Needless to say, he did not want to leave. We finally had to bribe him to get him in the car. He has also become really fond of Tiffany these days. He has always loved her, but now he has no fear of her and will hold her tail while she drags him around the house, or he will give her a great big bear hug around the neck until she gets up and takes off dragging him behind her. She is such a good dog and she tolerates him so well! The other morning, Bobby decided to let Jett "ride" Tiffany. I am sure she was thrilled.

I can't believe Jett turned 2 1/2 last Sunday. Gulp, sniff-sniff. I don't remember time flying so fast before he was born. Now I wish I could pause time, but before I have time to blink a whole month has passed. He is such a lovable, sweet, and funny little guy that kills us with the things he says and does. He is also extremely well behaved, which is a little surprising since we are not at all good disciplinarians. I guess it's a good thing that he is distracted easily! I was commenting the other day about how we have never experienced the "terrible two's" and someone informed me that 3 is the hard age. Ugh! Maybe I should bite my tongue.
I hope everyone had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!

Vitamin D, sunshine.....YEAH!

I can't believe I am saying this, but finally after 22 consecutive days of rain, the sun finally decided to make an appearance. YEAH! The rain was getting really depressing, and as strange as it may sound, I think my flowers were actually starting to look pathetic from too much water. This week was eventful, as it was my husband's birthday (1 more year until the big 4-0), and I was finally able to schedule a long overdue hair appointment. I was beginning to feel as if I should try out for the next season of Rock of Love Bus with my dark roots. Bobby and Jett also took advantage of the nice weather this weekend and ran with me at the river both Saturday and Sunday. Yippee! After we were finished, we took Jett to the new park area to play for a while. It is really nice, and I can't wait until it gets warm enough to let him play in all of the cool water features. Here are a few pictures of my little monkey at on the jungle gym.

I snapped this picture before we left for the river Saturday morning. How cute are these guys?!?

This was Jett "helping" daddy make his PB&J sandwich.

Sunday Bobby's parents took us out to eat and I was able to finally get a picture of the two of them with Jett. I am so glad that Jett has grandparents on both sides that think the world revolves around him (and parents, and great-grandparents, etc.)

That's about all I have for this week. I was finally able to schedule our visit to the White House last week! I am really getting excited about our trip to DC and the beach! Too bad it's not for 3 more months.....Here are a few more random pictures of my sweet baby boy. He kills me!

Another reunion, and Mother's Day

Let me just start by saying that I am so excited about spending the week at home and not in the car! We have taken so many little road trips in the past few weeks that I was getting sore from all of the sitting. Although we were at home, it was a crazy busy week as I was preparing for a dinner party with some of my oldest friends. I grew up with these 2 families, so the girls are like sister's to me, and their mom's are like my second mothers. We had such a great time! We have been spread out all over the map since teenagers, so our visits are few and far between but SO wonderful when they happen.

Jett at first acted shy, but after a while warmed right up. He particularly enjoyed playing with my friend Candice's little girl, Chandler.

And, as always, Gramma!

I don't really have a lot else to share besides the fact that I am completely exhausted, as Jett has decided once again that sleep is overrated. He has never been a good sleeper (and never a napper), but for about 6 months I have been spoiled to 10+ hour nights. Not the case anymore. For the past few nights he has woke up about every 3 or 4 hours, and then usually is up for good by 6. Ouch! I am happy to report that tonight he fell asleep in my lap and I was able to slowly glide myself down the halls and slip him into his bed without waking him up. YAY! I hope all of my mommy friends had a fabulous mother's day! Here are a few pic's Bobby was able to get of Jett and I today.

Poor little guys cheeks are red from the fever he has been running since Saturday morning. Not sure what that's about because he acts like he feels fine other than wanting me to hold him most of the day. Hopefully he will perk up in the next day or so. I hate to see him under the weather. Have a great week!

On the road again.....

Whoosh! I am totally exhausted after being out of town for the third week in a row. Last week was our family reunion in Arkansas. I absolutely love Arkansas, and although I could not rope, tie, and drag Bobby there to live, I intend to make sure that Jett appreciates it as much as I do! So far so good. He loved the mountains and made sure to stay awake for the entire 4 hour drive so that he would not miss any of the "fog that looks like smoke". Apparently is has been raining there as much as it has been raining here. Whatever happened to April showers bring May flowers?!?!?

Earlier this week I decided to pull out Jett's big boy underwear and try them on him. Now, we still are not in the aggressive potty training stage, but we are up to 4 or 5 times a day going on the potty (on a good day). I will be the first to admit that I am probably the worst about just pinning a diaper on him and going since it is just easier. Gotta work on that if I ever want him to be accepted into school.

Also new this week was another addition to our family. Bobby discovered a turtle in our yard while mowing. Jett loves turtles, so I found a glass fish bowl for him and made him a nice little home and began feeding and caring for him. I decided to google what you are supposed to feed turtles only to find out that our new "pet" was actually a water turtle (aka-snapping turtle). Yikes! Maybe we shouldn't try to rescue wild reptiles in our yard. Hopefully next weekend we will be able to take him out somewhere and let him go.

Remember the duckies that Jett got for Easter? Well, we are now down to uno duck. They were living in my grandma's yard, and one day she noticed that the little brown one was missing. We dont know what happened to it, but it breaks my heart to see the little white duckling waddling around her yard all alone. Here is a recent pic. Those suckers get big fast!

Here are a few more random pictures of Jett's indoor play this week. I am so ready for the sunshine!
