Go shorty, it's your birthday......

We're gonna party like it's your birthday! That was Jett's motto last weekend. I kept telling him we were going to Abby's party, and that Abby would be getting new toys. All weekend he kept saying "Abby's party...Abby's toys". Maybe mentioning toys was not a good idea because that led Jett to believe that he should be opening (and playing with) all of Abby's fun new things. Being the patient, lovely, sweet, and fabulous hostess Amy is, she allowed Jett to tear in to most of Abby's gifts.

Funny how Jett has most of the same toys, but for some reason, when they belong to someone else they are much more fun.

One thing Jett is never willing to share these days is mommy. He is super jealous of Abby, and anytime I try to hold or love on her, he starts pushing her and saying "mommy, NO, mommy, NO!". I took advantage of having lots of people around to entertain him at the party, and snuck in some cuddle time with the birthday princess!
Isn't she just absolutely precious?!?!? In the second picture he finally realized that she was on my lap so he had to climb up next to me . Bobby was able to distract him by doing a little Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Little Miss September!

I can't believe that Abby is finally one, and that Jett is getting closer and closer to the big 2. Where is the pause button?!?!? Here are some cute pictures of cake time!

After the party, we ran by my grandma's so that Jett could see nenal and gramma. He always wants to play in my grandma's backyard. I think he likes it because it is big and flat, unlike our backyard that is nothing but a big hill that our house is built in to.

He also enjoys getting to munch on french fries when we go to nenals house. More accurately, he enjoys dipping the fries in ketchup, sucking the ketchup off, and then dipping them again.

Other than Abby's party and getting caught in heavy rain while riding our bikes on Saturday, our weekend was pretty uneventful. I hope all of our friends from Texas (or anywhere else that had bad weather) are safe and dry now that Ike has passed through.

Jett's Big Adventures

What a week this has been for Jett. My mom was off work all week, so what could possibly be more fun that spending your vacation entertaining a 21 month old?!? Tuesday Jett got to go to the Aquarium with Gramma, and from what I hear, he had a great time and was fascinated by the turtles and sharks. Just when he thought life couldn't get any better, he got to take a trip to the Tulsa Zoo with Gramma on Friday. It must have been a huge hit because my mom picked him up a little before noon, and they didn't leave until after 3:30. I suspect the last hour was probably spent riding the train over, and over, and over again. Trains have become one of Jett's new obsessions, right behind "driving" our cars. Jett enjoys messing with all if the buttons and gadgets in our vehicles, so lately every time we get in them, the windshield wipers are going, the radio is blaring, and the air conditioner is blowing full blast. Here he is last week driving "gamma's cah".

He has been in the best mood lately. Every time I go in to get him up in the morning, he starts giggling and stays that way all day long. He has always been a really happy boy, but his little personality is really starting to pop out. He is becoming much more outgoing, and will even speak to strangers (while clinging to me) when they ask him questions. One of my new favorites is when you ask him his name, he says "Cistian Jett Godeswordy". So cute!! Also when I get him up in the mornings, one of the first things he asks for (besides Tiffany and daddy), is donuts.
My mother in law introduced him to those white powdery donuts and he loves them. YUCK! Here he is enjoying donuts Saturday morning.

Another new thing is Jett choosing what he wants to wear. He picks his clothes according to whatever animal, or motor vehicle he feels like wearing that day. The other night, he requested his dinosaur shirt and socks. I am sure he will love me breaking out these pictures of him wearing socks with fake claws when he is a teenager!

I recently moved Jett's books down to a level where he could reach them, and as you can see by the picture below, he loves it!

Jett putting his hand over his heart when he sees a flag. Awe.....he does this everywhere when we see an American flag. So sweet.

One of Jett's new favorite books is the Elmo sing-a-long book. Here he is doing Heads, Shoulders, Knees and toes.
Rub your belly......

Wiggle your nose......

This weekend Bobby and I were working on our yard (yes, you heard me right, we are still working on it), and Jett decided to help. That lasted for a little while, and then he started acting silly. Like always, I had my camera to capture the moment!
Helping daddy pick weeds

Flowers? What flowers? I didn't stomp on any flowers.

How cute is this kid, seriously?!?!? Love him!!

"I'm the one in charge around here"

You might remember me mentioning in my last post about how Jett has gotten a little bossy lately. I really don't like the word bossy, but I can't think of a better word that doesn't sound negative. As soon as people hear me say the word "bossy", I start getting all kinds of advice about how I need to "nip that in the bud", or "it's cute now, but it won't be later", etc. The truth is, he is not really obnoxious, he just doesn't know how to request things any other way right now. I keep thinking that if he will master prefacing his demands with the word "please", it will seem better. He is making some progress, but you have to remind him to say please most of the time. Here are some examples of how we all pretty much jump to his every command...
When Jett wants to go outside and mow my grandma's yard in the 100 degree heat, that is what we do.

When Jett wants to push the buttons on the remote, we give him a remote of his own. This is something new within the last couple of weeks...thanks Olympics!

Bobby bought a little Toyota Celica a few weeks ago so that we don't rack up miles on our new vehicles. It is small and compact, and Jett loves it because everything is right at his fingertips! When Jett wants to "dwive daddy's car" before getting buckled into his car seat, we let him. (Disclaimer: the car is not on, and we are not driving in these pictures. We are safely parked in the parking lot of Academy Sports.)

Jett still continues to love books, so I decided that once a week I am going to take him to the bookstore for a new one. Last Wednesday my mom met us at Barnes and Noble and he ended up with 6 new books. YEAH! When we got home, I let him take a bath in the kitchen sink and then I let him lay with me on our bed to read his new books before going to sleep in his own room.

One of Bobby's employees told him about a neat park in Sapulpa, so we decided to try it out. It was so amazing, and Bobby and I had just as much fun as Jett did! We ended up taking him Saturday and Sunday because we like it so much (and because Jett cried when we left the first night so it made us feel really bad).

So, now that I have pretty much stamped "sucker" on our foreheads, everyone knows why Jett is in charge around our house:) Anyways, I hope everyone had a great Labor Day and has a terrific week!

Week 2 of being couch potatos....

Well, I just spend about 15 minutes typing this post, and something happened and it all disappeared. Urgh!! Rather than typing the whole thing again, I will just go over the highlights. Basically, another boring week around our house, we are sad the Olympics are over, we joined the Aquatic Club, I have started training for my upcoming races (it's that time of year again), and Jett is still the beautiful, smart, charming, intelligent, perfect little angel he has always been:) Can you tell we are still completely obsessed with him? I must mention though since I am always bragging about him, that he has gotten a wee bit (OK, so a lot) bossy lately. I don't think he realizes it, or he does and I am living in denial, but familiar phrases I hear daily are, "give it to me", "mommy go get it", "daddy go get it", and "NO!" among many others. Still cute coming from his little mouth in his sweet little voice, but we are definitely working on the whole "say please and thank you" thing. He is good at "thank you", but we are still struggling with "please".
Also, my camera is broke, so the pictures I have taken recently are horrible quality. I need to get it in the shop, but I shudder at the thought of being without it. Here are some pictures of my cutie pa-tootie the other night at bedtime.
Mommy's little helper. Jett insists on throwing away diapers, and putting dirty clothes in the hamper.

The driver on the bus says "Move on back...."

As you can see, we are still book fanatics. Everywhere Jett goes, a book goes as well. Since we did nothing exciting (again) this week, here are a few more after bath pictures of Jett the other night. He was reading, brushing his teeth, and being silly. Bobby ran to Walgreens for medicine one night and came home with Jett's "Dude, your girlfriend keeps checking me out" shirt. He was so cute and excited about it that he woke me up after midnight to show it to me. He also bought himself a shirt that says "I love hot moms" that he wore when I came home from the triathlon a few weeks ago. Too funny!

Yum! Jett spends more time sucking the toothpaste off the brush than he does scrubbing his teeth and gums.

Gymnastics Jett style...

That's all I have for this week. Hopefully next week will be more exciting!
