Whiz Kid

Last week mom and I decided to take Jett to the Kirkpatrick Center/Omniplex/Planetarium in Oklahoma City. Jett is really hands on and loves interactive type stuff, so we thought he would really enjoy all of the neat science type things they have, and my mom had read that they have a new train exhibit, so that was all the more reason to go. I thought dressing Jett in his Whiz Kid shirt would be appropriate given the nature of this trip.

As you might be able to tell in a few of the pictures, Jett is sans shorts. He got a little to busy playing on the airplane display and forgot that he needed to go to the potty. Oops. On top of that, I had no extra clothes, or diapers. Mom and I had to make a quick pit stop to a family dollar (with bars on the windows I might add) to buy some to tide us over until we got home.
Earlier in the week mom and I took Jett to Toys R Us to do a little shopping before a concert. On the way out, Jett thought he needed an ice cream sandwich. We had him eat on the sidewalk outside of the store so that he wouldn't get my mom's new car all messy.

And finally, last Saturday was the Def Leppard, Cheap Trick, Poison concert! WooHoo!! I have been obsessed with Def Leppard since I was like 12, and I have seen them every time they have been to Tulsa since (4 times to be exact), and the fact that Bret Michaels was joining them was just a little added bonus. Here are my and my girls before the show!

I will be on vacation for the next 10 days on the east coast (pray that the hurricane doesn't get us), so I may be missing in action for next week's post.

A 5K, a Firetruck, a tattoo, and McCartney!

Friday night Bobby and I ran a 5K together. This was particularly exciting to me since I usually run with friends or by myself. Bobby has always been a sprint one mile kind of guy, while I am the distance/endurance runner. He decided at the last minute to run this years United Way Trailblazer run with me, and I was ecstatic. As you can see from the photo's below, he was a little beat at the end of the race, but finished about 5 strides behind me, which is great for his first sanctioned run!

Also at the event was a Firetruck for the kids to check out. Jett loves firetrucks, and gets really excited when we see one on the road (especially if it's lights and siren's are going). He wasn't, however, a big fan of being IN an actual firetruck, or actually anywhere near one.

They also had tents set up for "tattoo's". Jett picked out a train tattoo. Surprise, surprise! I didn't realize those suckers were so hard to get off! 4 days and 4 bath's later, it is still on his arm.

Saturday we attended a wedding for a sweet friend of mine, Ami. Here is a photo that I snagged from my friend, as I forgot my camera. Can you tell I am a runner by my tank top farmer tan?!?

And finally, this week was the McCartney concert! SO good. If anyone gets an opportunity, they should go, for sure! Funny story. An email went out from the BOK arena that camera's would be allowed at the concert, which never happens. So of course, I took my camera. We parked in the parking garage to my mom's office about 5 blocks away and walked (in almost 100degree heat) to the arena rather than paying to park close. Once we got there, I was informed that my camera was professional, and camera's with special lenses that can be removed or external flashes were prohibited. Being the runner I am, I removed my uncomfortable, cute heels and ran through the streets of downtown back to the parking garage, locked the camera in my mom's car, and ran back to the BOK arena barefoot. Yep! It's a good thing I trained for a marathon down there. I know the streets well. Here are the pictures we took from my mom's camera.

Vanilla Ice Cream, Baby!!

I don't have a lot of stuff to blog about this week since the summer days seem to repeat themselves over and over again, you know, play outside, play trains, play in the water, etc., so I wanted to post a few pic's of Jett enjoying a vanilla ice cream cone the other day. As you can see by his ice cream covered face, he thoroughly enjoyed it. What I am not going to enjoy is cleaning off the seats in Bobby's dad's car....oops!

And yes, that sweet little boy is every bit as sweet as the ice cream he is wearing! I have often said that he is so sweet that I could take a bite out of him:) Have a good week!

Social Butterfly

This past week has been so busy (as you will be able to see by the pic's) that I haven't had a chance to sit down and blog about what's been going on around here until Thursday, which means that in just a few more days it will be time to do it again. Sheesh! Time has been slipping away from me so fast lately. Now that Jett is getting older, the days and weeks are just flying by so quickly. It really makes me sad because I feel like he is growing up so fast and I wish there was a pause or rewind button sometimes so that we can enjoy him at this stage just a little big longer. He is old enough now to really enjoy playing with kids around his age, and luckily I have several good friends with little ones that are eager and willing to meet up for play dates! I am so glad to see Jett be social. I have always been worried about that because he is so attached to me, and he is not consistently around other children. Last week we met up with my good friend Shanna and her family at the splash pad for a play date with Reid. The boys were so cute to watch, and are both so well behaved and easy to handle!

Later on in the week we met several more of my friends back at the splash pad (what can I say? It's nice and new and we love it!) to celebrate Shelby's 5th birthday. I attempted to make her pink cake balls that ended up being melted cake ball mush due to the scorching heat that day. Before melting they looked super cute though! Here are the kids playing. We had SO much fun!

Also new this week was a slip-n-slide! It took me demonstrating (yes, my husband took pic's...no, they won't be posted) before Jett got the hang of it. He still preferred running on it and swimming in his froggie pool though.

It's so hard for me to grasp that Jett will be 3 in just a few more months. He is still the funniest kid I have ever been around, and I am certain that he has the cutest voice I have ever heard:) He is getting so tall lately, but is still wearing a 2T perfectly. I am almost finished with his fall/winter wardrobe and it's a little depressing to buy 3T's:( He is wearing a size 7 shoe, and weighs a little over 30lbs. His obsession is still Thomas the Train, and everything still has to be "green like Percy". He has also become obsessed with hamburgers, and I am not sure where that one came from. We are still working on the potty training. He will go several days without accidents if we take him continually to the potty, but he won't tell us when he needs to go a lot of the time. He is way to busy for potty breaks! I have been rewarding him with Percy stickers, which he loves, but I end up finding them in very unique places around the house and on his body in the morning when I go in to get him out of bed. We are basically still crazy in love with him and can't get enough of his sweet hugs and kisses. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week (or what's left of it)!
