We Heart Summer

Yes, we LOVE summer time around here. Pretty much every week around here from about May through September is the same old routine. This year we have substituted about 3 days a week at the park for 3 days a week at the train tracks on the west side of town. A little scary, but we go during daylight, and Bobby is always with us! We did take a break from the trains long enough one afternoon to enjoy Woodward Park. You can tell by Jett's red face that this particular day was a little toasty.

And one picture of Jett standing on the digger at the train yard.

Not much else is going on around our house except for yard work, preparing for vacation (5 more weeks to go.....woo hoo!), and getting ready for 3 concerts in 3 weeks. Yes, I will be going to Def Leppard, Cheap Trick, and Poison, Britney Spears, and Paul McCartney. I know what you're thinking....quite a variety, right?!? What can I say....I have eclectic taste in music, for sure! I don't really know why I pay money for entertainment these days though when I have Jett around to keep me laughing. His latest comments have been "Don't worry about it mommy", "It's not yours...it's mine", and "That's not nice mommy". He's so funny. The other night I bought him a Lights and Sounds Percy, and in the car he says to me "Did you buy me a green train mommy?" I replied to him "Yes, mommy bought you a green train because you are a good boy and I love you." He then says "Gramma bought me a bigger one." Ouch! That's about all I have for now. I'm going to post one last picture because it shows what Jett's favorite activity is besides playing with trains. Our poor pup! He just will not leave her alone at all.

Toot-Toot, Ding, Ding, Ding!!!

Jett is completely obsessed with trains, so Bobby and I decided to take him downtown to see the train tracks. We thought there might be a few trains on the track not moving, but we lucked out and ended up getting to see a freight train go by while we were out there. Jett was so excited, and a little bit scared as it went directly in front of us. He thought it was really cool that the conductor tooted the horn and waved at him.

We have been so busy lately, and Jett is still our number one form of entertainment around here! His number one interest is still Thomas the Train, or any train really, and he can name them all, tell us what number they are and what color they are. He has started singing "You are my Sunshine", which just melts my heart, and his newest thing is to say "Thank you for helping me mommy", and "Good Morning mommy", randomly throughout the day for no apparent reason. My good friend Kelly had a new baby girl last week, so my mom, Jett and I went to visit her on Sunday. While we were waiting to meet my mom, I decided to take a few random pictures of Jett and I love them! They just show his personality so much. Happy, wild, and funny!

And a few pictures of Jett skinny dipping Friday in his green (like Percy) swimming pool.

I am going to keep this short becuase I had lots of pictures to upload! Have a great week!

Missing week/Lazy days of summer

Well, I have officially skipped a whole week of blogging for the very first time. We had an electrical storm in Tulsa a few weeks ago that fried our computer upstairs, and since that is the PC that I upload all of my pictures too, I just decided to wait until I had pictures to do a new post. So, here goes. I only have a few pictures from 2 weeks ago because it was so hot that we spent most of our time outside at the splash pad or park, and these days it is difficult to try to get any quality pictures while chasing around a busy toddler! So rather than attempt to do that, I decided to sneak in a few shots of my little guy worn out after several long days of playing in the heat.
Why you shouldn't sleep with a toddler....

He couldn't even make it home before crashing.

My little firecracker!

I hope everyone had a safe, happy, and fun filled Independence Day weekend! I have always loved the 4th of July, and I have fond memories of getting excited every year about going to the river parks to enjoy the wonderful fireworks display. Although, as we were watching the show Saturday night, Amy and I were discussing how when we were little kids the fire crackers seemed larger than life, and we could remember laying on the grass and feeling like they were going to come right down on top of us. I don't know if it's because we were much smaller, or if it's because they shoot them off at a greater distance, but for some reason for the past several years they don't seem as big and impressive as they once did. Jett, on the other hand, was completely mesmerized by them and made sure to point out what color each one was and which Thomas the Train engine character they matched (for example: "That's a red one like James! That's a green one like Percy! That's a blue one like Thomas!) Before we headed over to the bridge Saturday night, we met up with the Coatney family and had a little play time in the park. Abby and Jett are so funny to watch. Abby is so cautious and little, and Jett is a bull in a China closet dragging her around. I'm thinking now would be a good time for Bobby to start teaching him about being gentle with girls!

I felt bad that my grandma spent the 4th of July alone, as we usually have family in from out of town, so Jett and I headed over there today to pay her a little visit. Jett absolutely loves it there, and had a complete meltdown when we had to leave. At one point I said to him "Bye Bye Jett, mommy is going to go home". On any other day, he would have dropped everything and came running towards me. Not today. He came over, gave me a hug and said "bye bye mommy, I'm gonna stay with Nenal". What?!? I told him that he was making me feel really bad, and my grandma said "you used to do the same thing". Ouch! Man, now I feel bad for making my mom feel unwanted. My grandma is still caring for Jett's duck, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. I feel bad for the poor duckie because Jett chases it all over the yard and I know it has to get tired and scared.

That's about it for us this week. The only thing exciting around here these days is the continued effort to potty train. I am not convinced that it is time yet, but Bobby is adamant that we should be trying, so I am going along with him! Jett does really well and can go all day without a wet diaper, pull up, or underwear, but only if we take him to the potty every few hours. He hasn't quite mastered the art of telling us when he needs to go on his own. This is certainly my least favorite thing so far about parenthood. If it were up to me, he would be wearing diapers until kindergarten!

Food, fun, and fortunes.....

I think it's official that I should probably be the recipient of some type of bad blogger award these days. I almost skipped this week entirely, but I rely on my weekly posts to track Jett's age and cuteness in my scrapbooks! This summer is flying by and I can't believe it's already July! We have spending most of our time outdoors, and come in about 3 times a day to eat. We would probably do that outside as well, but I have a weird phobia about ants and flies on my food:) The other night Bobby was helping Jett eat a hamburger, and I had to grab the ole' camera.

I started cross training last week in the pool, which was exciting for me because I love to swim, and I am also hoping to do another triathlon before summer is over. The only negative thing to lap swimming....Jett can't do it with me. Bummer. I am hoping that in the next few weeks I can take him to the pool just to splash around and have fun without doing laps. He really does well in the water and will even put his head under, so I am hoping he will love swimming also. Watch out Michael Phelps! Bobby and I have been working in our flower bed often, as weeds just keep popping up out of nowhere. Urgh! While we are digging up weeds, Jett enjoys playing around in the yard and chasing Tiffany (or riding her, dragging her, laying on her, etc). She is the best dog and tolerates all of his abuse.

I can't end a post without a Jett funny, so here goes. My mom and I meet every Tuesday and take Jett to the bookstore and then go eat together. We have found this amazing place called Thai Siam, and they always give us fortune cookies. The very first time we went there (I am guessing about 2 months ago), Jett's first fortune said "Never give up". Tuesday after Jett opened his fortune cookie, he pulled out the fortune, studied it for a second, and then said "It says Never give up". Mom and I about died. He has a great memory (did not get that from me), and he now knows almost all of the Thomas the Train characters by name and can recognize their numbers. Also new this week is "No...I don't think so", and "It doesn't matter mommy". I asked him tonight "How old are you Jett", and he thought I said "How are you Jett", so he responded by saying "Thank you mommy, I'm fine". Other than that, not much going on around here. I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July!
