An Oscar worthy performance?

With tonight being the Oscar's, I thought this title was appropriate. It is especially appropriate in our house lately, as Jett has perfected the art of manipulating is father and myself, along with both sets of grandparents by using a combination of the pouty lip, crocodile tears, adorable smile, and his absolutely adorable little voice to get whatever he wants, whenever he wants. Yes, it is official. A 2 year old completely rules our house. With that being said, he is such a good boy, he rarely gets into mischief, and he actually does mind really well most of the time. However, bedtime is usually a challenge. We attempted to make him go to sleep in his own bed Saturday night, but as soon as we walked out of the room he started weeping so hard he could barely catch his breath, and we could hear him begging "Please mommy, please....please mommy hold you in mommy's bed". Gulp! It totally broke our hearts. We got him out of bed and put him in bed with us. As soon as we got settled in under the covers, he put his sweet little hands on my face and said "snuggle with mommy", and turned to Bobby to flash the sweetest grin ever. An Oscar worthy performance? I think so. What an actor.
Tonight was our annual Oscar Party with my mom, and the theme food was Indian. YUM! My mom came over a little early so we could make beef curry and rice. Jett was so excited to see Gramma, and even more excited when she showed up with a Thomas the Train mylar balloon. Thank goodness Grandma thinks ahead and had them put an extra long string on it since our ceilings are over 20 feet high.

As we were loading the back of my mom's car with all of our food, Jett decided to help by placing sticks in her trunk.

The girl that hosts the party every year has 2 small boys, so Jett was in heaven with all of the toys, bikes, and the big play set in the back yard.

We had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year!
Jett really enjoys getting into all of my lotion, body splash, etc. while we are getting ready for the day. The other day when Bobby got out of the shower, Jett had found one of my blush brushes and was using it to paint Tiffany with my salt scrub. Today as I was running around getting things picked up around the house I noticed that he had a bottle of my old body splash and was spraying himself and Tiffany with it. Poor Tiff, she puts up with so much!

One last picture. My little sister left a late Valentine's Day gift on the porch Sunday night for Jett. When my mom called to tell me it was there, I was thinking maybe a stuffed animal or a box of chocolates....not so much. It was a "Flirty Flasher" (aka - a stripper dog that plays music and dances). Not exactly toddler appropriate, but Jett thinks the "puppy dog dancing" is funny, and luckily he doesn't understand the whole flashing concept yet. Hopefully he won't for a very long time!

Have a great week!

How much do we "Heart" our boy???

As Jett would say...."Mommy loves you the whoooooole world!" The feeling is definitely mutual!! I have always liked Valentine's Day because what is greater than a whole day wrapped around the concept of love and chocolates! Here is Jett after his bath Saturday morning when he discovered the red balloons I brought home and left in the kitchen.

Saturday night my mom offered to watch Jett for a few hours so that Bobby and I could go to dinner and a movie. After dinner we were sitting at the entrance ramp on the highway and Bobby said "I kind of just want to go get him, but your mom would probably be mad". I just started laughing because I was thinking the same thing. Now that we have Jett, we are not very good at entertaining ourselves! Rather than going to a movie, we just drove back into Tulsa and spent some alone time shopping around and listening to old school music that we actually used to like. It was a great time, and I enjoyed having my hubby to myself for a few hours (and getting to hold his hand in the car, as I am usually leaning over the seat giving Jett a drink, snack, toy, etc.)
Here is Jett as we were getting ready to leave for Gramma's house (and more balloon fun).

While we were away, Jett was having a ball being spoiled by gramma! He also loved the Thomas the Train Valentine's Day card and Mr. Potato Head she bought him.

I usually make Valentine's Day cupcakes, but this year my friend Shanna made some and she was kind enought to send some home with me. They were DELICIOUS, and cute!

Earlier this week Jett and I sat down and hand created special Valentine's cards for all of our friends. This boy does love to color, and particularly enjoyed pressing the buttons on my Cricut machine and watching it cut the paper. Fun!

We enjoyed our Valentine's Day week/weekend, and I look forward to spending many more great "heart" days with my two Valentine's!! I hope everyone else had a great weekend too! Here are a few random pictures of my little cupid doing what he enjoys the most....knocking all of his ABC's off the dishwasher, taking everything out of the cabinets, and wallering around all over the kitchen floor.

Potty Animal

We finally did it. We bought Jett his very first potty chair. Just the thought of cleaning out that nasty plastic bowl gives me chills, but Jett has absolutely ZERO interest in sitting on the big potty lately, so I though a small one might not freak him out so bad. I personally am fine with waiting several months to start the whole potty training process, especially since we have had our dog for almost 4 years and she still has uh-oh's (we are obviously not doing something right). When I suggested waiting, Bobby reminded me that he isn't going to be a baby forever, and I can't wait until he is 21 to buy him a potty chair.....so sad:( To my surprise, the chair was a huge hit! Jett couldn't get enough of his new throne. He even grunted and strained enough trying to make something happen that there were a few drops in the bowl (Ewe!!!).

Saturday afternoon we ran to my grandma's house in Owasso. Bobby changed some of her light bulbs in the bathroom, so of course Jett had to be daddy's little "helper".

He always loves going to Nenal's because she has a huge box of crayons. I am so proud of him because he has finally learned all of his colors, with the exception of red. He always calls red pink, and then realizes he messed up and says "no, that's red".

While I was picking up toys in the living room, I heard Jett and my grandma laughing in the dining room. I walked in there to find this...

So funny! Jett found her rollers and wanted her to put them in his hair. I am hoping he won't have gender identity issues from us rolling his hair.

This week has been pretty busy and involved another trip to the doctor to get Jett's cough and runny nose looked at. I am not typically the kind of mom to run him to the Dr. because of a runny nose or cough, but his coughs were starting to rattle, so I thought I better get him checked out. Of course, by the time we got to the Dr. he wasn't coughing, his nose wasn't running, and he was running around like a wild man. We got a good report, but he did get his first antibiotic ever. I guess making it over 2 years without having to take medicine is pretty good. Here are a few random pictures from before church this morning, and a few from this evening.

Cabin Fever

This week I have no excuse for a late post, especially since last week we were cooped up in the house, so I should have been uploading, naming, and shrinking pictures in preparation for my typical Sunday night blogging, but instead, I was enjoying the warm indoors with the the cutest boy in the whole world (I am a little biased). Yep, we were completely iced in for several days, so Jett and I baked brownies....

Helping mommy clean up...

We did a little coloring.....

And we hatched dinosaur eggs!

Has anyone else tried hatching these fizzy, alka-seltzer like dinosaur eggs with their little ones?!? My mom got Jett a few for Christmas, and they are pretty large eggs, but this sucker took about 30 minutes to completely hatch, and when all was said and done, the dinosaur was about the size of a dime and some sort of paper material. I had anticipated at the least a small plastic toy. Oh well, Jett was thrilled and happy to show it off for me. Notice how yucky the bath water was afterwards..Ewe!!

We also had a bit of adventure last week in the ice. I was holding Jett in the drive way (if you have ever been to our house, we live on the top of a hill and the driveway winds up to the back of the house and it is very steep). I slipped on the ice and fell, and when I landed I was on Jetts right leg. It freaked me out, and when I sat him down he would cry, and when he tried to take a step he would fall. I called Bobby panicking and he left work to come home and take us to the Urgent Care Clinic, as I wasn't confident enough to brave the icy roads. After about 4 x-rays, I was thrilled to learn that his ankle was just strained, and at the most there was a small fracture in his growth plate that will heal with time. Whew! Talk about feeling like the worst mom in the whole world. Being the spunky 2 year old Jett is, he was back to himself in no time, and ready to play in outside in the beautiful weather over the weekend. Only in this part of the country can you have an ice storm on Tuesday, and spring like weather on Friday. Here is Jett enjoying the outdoors on Saturday.

I love how red his hair is in this picture. It is getting so much darker that I love the way it still looks copper-ish in the sunlight.

Wearing gramma's shades

Sunday was the Super Bowl, and boy were we excited! Bobby loves the Steelers, and I pretty much just love any good football game (not to mention that Springsteen was the half time show!)Jett enjoyed eating chips and queso in the den more than watching the game as you can tell by his cheesy face.

Well, that about sums up our week. I hope everyone has a good week and stays warm!!
