Can it get any hotter around here?!?!?

Seriously, I went for a run today around 2 with Tiffany, and poor thing barely made it home. As I was running, I would look back and see her laying on her side in the middle of the street with her tongue hanging out of her mouth. At one point, a nice neighbor offered to give her water. Hmmm, maybe I should leave my hot natured running buddy at home! Jett, on the other hand, would play outside for hours in the heat and it never seems to phase him. My kinda boy! Here he is playing around outside earlier this week. Notice the short shorts?!? These were some 12-18 month play clothes I pulled out from the back of his closet. On top of that, he was wearing his big boy underwear, so can we say "wedgie"?!?

He is so much fun these days and has really started wanting to "help" me with everything. It's so cute to see him watch every move I make and then say "I-yanna do it!" This weekend we stayed at home and worked in the yard, watched cartoons (I know, don't fall out of your chairs), and went for a few nice walks around the neighborhood. It was a very nice, relaxing Father's Day weekend. I tried to get some pictures of Bobby and Jett playing Sunday afternoon, but I didn't realize that they were turning out so dark.

As we were getting read to go visit my father-in-law Sunday, Bobby snapped a few shots of Jett and I in the driveway. I love how green everything is (after much watering).

Just when we think he can't get any funnier, Jett says or does something that knocks our socks off. I was showing him some Thomas the Train sing-a-longs on YouTube the other day, and I went to click on the button to make the picture larger, and Jett said "No mommy....don't click it", and pulled his hand back as if he was going to smack me. I looked at him square in the eye and said "You better not hit mommy". He looked me directly in the eyes, leaned his little head over on my shoulder and turned his cheek to kiss my face, then reached his little palms up and put them on my cheeks and said in the SWEETEST little voice "Say it mommy....I love you Jett". Ugh! He kills me! This is exactly why I am not good at the discipline thing. Although, I must brag on him because everywhere we go we get praises about how well mannered he is. We must be doing something right! Just a quick picture to show how much I am obsessed with this boy.

Oh, and his new phrase of the week was "I love you today mommy". Awe...so loveable. Although, it makes me wonder if he really does only love me that day, or will he love me tomorrow too?!? So funny!

It's what month?!?

I can hardly believe that it is almost July, or we are halfway there at least. I remember way back when BC (before child), weeks were long and days seemed even longer. Now, before I know it, a whole month has passed and I get sad that it has flown by way to quickly. The positive thing about this summer so far is that I have gotten the opportunity to spend time with several friends that live out of state. This past weekend I got to enjoy time with my sweet friend Neena that moved away a few years ago. Another friend of ours was kind enough to host a cook out Saturday night for our families to get together and catch up. We had a blast, and Jett and I enjoyed meeting and getting to play with (and splash in puddles with) sweet little Aidan.

This was after Ring around the Rosey....we all fell down!

Ring around the Rosey

Earlier this week Amy and I took Jett and Abby to the splash pad. I love watching them together, and I really hope that Abby and Jett will be close like Amy and I. So far, they run in opposite directions of one another, with the occassional hug and kiss. Abby is always so sweet and tries to love on Jett and share things with him, such as her drink for example.

Brrrr.....the water was colder than he anticipated, and you can tell by his face

As time goes by, Jett becomes more and more of a comedian. This past week Bobby and I stopped to get frozen custard, and I was sitting on the couch eating mine with a napkin wrapped around the cup (brrr those things are cold), and Jett walked over to me and said "Whatcha eadin mommy? Are you eadin ice cweam.....and toilet paper?" Then the other night, Bobby and I were laying with him in our bed. Realizing that Jett was not going to go to sleep with the TV on, Bobby turned it off. Jett quickly settled down, and when it got quiet, he said "What are we gonna do now, Daddy?" Bobby quickly responded with "We're going to go to sleep is what were gonna do". He is doing well with using the potty, and had no daytime wet diapers this past weekend. Yeah! Well, that's all I have for now. Hope everyone has a great week!

Say what?!?

I have often wondered when I would stop doing the weekly blog, but as Jett gets older, I realize the importance of documenting all of his funny actions and comments. This past week he has said a few things that have caught me completely off guard and made me laugh out loud. The first conversation went something like this:
Me: "Mommy needs to have daddy change the light bulb because I can't see" (in the laundry room)
Jett: "You can't see with your eyes mommy? I can see with my blue eyes."
I almost died. Kids! They take everything so literally. I guess he thought I physically couldn't see. This weekend we had our annual picnic, Boonefest. It was perfect weather, and Jett loved the pinata and the catfish pond. I am going to have to make a mental note to myself to never dress Jett in a white shirt for parties again. He was filthy afterwards.

While we were out driving around on Saturday, I made the comment "It is so hot". Bobby then chimed back, "You are hot". Jett, sitting in the back seat says (without missing a beat) "Nooo, you're not hot mommy. Daddy, mommy's not hot!" Thanks Jett!
On Sunday, I met up with 2 of my girlfriends for coffee at Utica. So much fun! I love these girls!

Anyways, so far this week....no plans until Saturday! YEAH! Maybe I can catch up on some much needed sleep. Have a great week!

Where does the time go?!?

I think I might know the answer to this. Facebook. Ever since I was conned into starting a Facebook page, the ole' blog has been shoved aside. I will do my best to recap our busy week! And when I say busy, I do mean busy. I am starting to wonder if I will ever get caught up on sleep! I have not been as good about carrying my camera with me at all times as I usually do, but I was glad that I had it handy the other morning when Jett decided to use Bobby's sink as a water fountain.

I am not quite sure how he got his body in the position to do this, but it was really funny! Bobby told me that we need to be careful or Jett will turn on the hot water and burn himself, and Jett quickly responded by saying "No...I not turn on the hot water. The cold water is right there" and pointed to the cold faucet handle. The funny things he says these days pretty much keep us in stitches at all times. The other day I was making the bed, and he didn't realize Bobby had gotten up (our bed is very tall), and as I made the bed, Jett said "Did you cover daddy up?" Bobby and I both about lost it. I guess he thought I made the bed with Bobby in it.
On Sunday we went to my grandma's to visit my aunt and uncle. Since the duck now lives in my grandma's back yard, she has a little plastic kiddie pool for it to splash around in. Needless to say, my water lovin' boy found it immediately.

No worries (or calls to DHS), the pool was new and the water was fresh....until the dogs decided to join him, at which point we decided that swimming time was over.
Also last week we attended a baby shower for my good friend Kelly and her soon to be new baby girl Adelyn, and Jett decided to make necklaces out of the pink yarn used to play the "guess how big her belly is" game. I am sure Bobby was so proud!

Well, I hope everyone is enjoying the summer like weather. I know we are!!
