Thanksgiving 2008

My sweet baby boy has been under the weather all week, so I will keep this post short, but I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We had a nice day considering that Jett was beginning to get a nasty cold that is still making him miserable today.
We had a nice, casual Thanksgiving dinner at my grandma's house on Thursday. Jett recruited my step-dad to play catch the ball in the tin bucket with him. Greg would throw the ball to Jett who was holding the bucket, and Jett would occasionally flinch when the ball came flying towards him. The ball they were using was a Sponge Bob plastic ball, but started thinking later that it is probably not a great idea to teach a 2 year old that it is OK to throw things in the house. I suspect it might be too late at this point, so I am sure my days of broken windows and lamps are coming.

Where did the ball go?!?

Whenever my mom is around, this is what you will see. Jett wanting nothing to do with anyone else.

Running around in Nenal's yard

After dinner, we took Jett to the park. He had fun playing on the toys, and mom and I enjoyed chasing him around, hopefully burning off a few of those Thanksgiving Day calories.

Saturday night was the BIG OU vs. OSU game, and since my aunt and uncle were in town from Dallas, we all gathered at my grandma's house to watch. Jett was feeling pretty sick at this point, so he spent the whole evening going back and forth between me and my mom before finally passing out in my lap. Tonight Bobby and I took him out to Rhema to see all of the lights. My mom used to take me every year, so I want to do the same thing with Jett. That place is amazing. Jett loved it, and so did we.

After we got home, I had Jett (wearing his OU sweats to celebrate the victory) pose by the Christmas tree in front of his OU airplane ornament.

One last picture of our enormous tree. I really dread taking this thing down!

Have a great week, I am off to watch Kung Fu Panda with the boys!

New toys and new tricks

It has been a week since Jett's 2nd birthday, which means it has been a busy week at our house playing with all of the great new toys he got! There were so many that we are having to phase them in one by one. This week the train table was still a huge hit, but he also enjoyed several new dump trucks, bulldozers, and tractor's. Here is my little man trying on his new hard hat. As you can probably tell from the picture, he fell while playing outside and went face first into the concrete. My poor baby boy is always all scratched up.

The other morning while munching on a bag of popcorn, Jett decided it would be much more fun to put the popcorn in the back of his toy dump truck. Needless to say, there was popcorn everywhere by the time he was done. Luckily, we have Tiffany the vaccum cleaner to help clean up food messes.

OU football is major thing in our home and my husband tends to yell, hoot and holler at the television, which in turn causes Jett to get excited and worked up too. Due to the significant number of touchdown's our team had on Saturday, my boys were as rowdy as ever. Here is Jett watching OU football and loving it!
Go Sooners!

Touchdown OU! Jett jumping - he is actually in mid air in this picture

Did they score again?!?!?

Jett taking a break at half time to play with his train ("toot-toot,ding,ding,ding")

This weekend Jett had a little bit of a cold, so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to stay in and get out my Christmas decorations. I love, love, love Christmas time! I also love my tree, and we haven't put it up the past few years because of the dog being a puppy and Jett being a curious 1 year old who wanted to pull all of the bulbs off. We finally got it up and it looks great! Thus far, Jett hasn't bothered it at all, and Tiffany has totally ignored it. Yipee! As we were getting things out of boxes, I turned around to see this.....

Lovely! See why he always has scratches on his pretty little face? This boy has no fear. I, of course, was a wreck because that rickety old ladder scares me to death! It is seriously time for a new one. I am happy to report that Jett made it down without any new injuries, and within seconds had moved on to other things.

This is why he gets away with everything.....so stinkin' sweet!

My sweet baby boy is 2!!

Today our sweet baby boy is years old. Let me just say that it chokes me up thinking about how fast the time passes when you have a little one around. I hate to see each stage pass, but before I know it, I am having more fun that I ever thought possible. I could go on and on about him because he is so perfect to us, but I won't bore everyone with my ramblings, and I will save that for his baby book!
I will, however, brag on my little angel by sharing his birthday celebration pictures. We had his party on Saturday. He loves dump trucks, bulldozer's, tractor's, etc., so we had a construction vehicle theme. The cake was absolutely amazing. I honestly almost cried when I saw it because it was so great (and huge!). My mother-in-law was kind enough to arrive early and cook up a delicious feast of Korean food for everyone. Yum! I don't know how to spell all of the items served, but let me just say it was delicious and there was nothing left.
The cake table

The AMAZING cake!

The sweet, beautiful, precious birthday boy!

Time to open presents!!

My mom bought Jett a huge train table and my grandma bought him all of the trains to go with it. Absolutely the most exciting gift of the day!
After the train set, who really cares about cake?!? He was really not all that interested. He wanted to go play!

A shot of Amy and I, and a wild attempt at a family picture. He can't get his mind off of that choo choo train.

Since today was Jett's actual birthday, I took him to the Riverwalk this afternoon and we played games at Fun House.

Along the Riverwalk is a water feature surrounded by rocks, so of course, Jett had to throw one. I love how he is bent over with his arm extended out behind him with the rock in it. Maybe we will have a left handed pitcher?!?!?

After that, we headed to Owasso to have dinner with my mom and grandma and blow out candles on the center part of the cake we cut from the big one. Jett did a great job, and preferred just sticking his whole face in the cake rather than using a fork.
He must like the icing....that's my boy!!

Here are some random pictures of my 2 year old. Some things I always want to remember about him at this age are...(read below pictures)

Above: Jett and binky bear

Above: Jett and his "punkin head"

*He can sing the ABC's all the way through with no help
*He has almost all of his books memorized and he can tell what they are by the spine
*He says his v's like b's and I love it! (example: give it to me is "gib it to me")
*He still loves his "binky bear" in the car and at bed time. Binky and bear are a pair and go together, not separate. When you have one, you must have the other
*He can count to ten in English and in Korean
*He can sing songs in English and in Korean
*His favorite radio song is "Ooh Ahh", by Grits. Me and Bobby grit our teeth, but we listen to it over, and over, and over, and over because he loves it.
*He is bossy because we let him be. He directs us where to sit in the house. "Mommy ober here, Daddy ober there" is what we hear quite often. Shame on us. It is cute now, but probably not in a few years.
*Jett LOVES his grandma's and grandpa's. He lights up when he sees them.
*He recognizes things that amaze us. We can drive by Lowe's and he will say "go ober there, go see Christmas Trees!" So funny!
I could go on an on because everything he does amazes us. He is one lucky, loved kid, for sure!!
One last thing, hooray for all athletes out there that participated in the Route 66 Marathon Sunday morning. It was a great time. I felt great immediately after the run, but not so much in the several hours following. Here is a picture of Shanna and I before I spent roughly 8 miserable hours crashed on the floor at home with severe stomach cramps. That will teach me to eat Korean food the day before a marathon:)

Election won, Tiffany lost.....

I will start with the election first. Let me just say "Thank Goodness it is over"!! Since this was the first election since Jett was born and a historical one, my mom bought a Tulsa World for Jett's baby book/scrap book.
I was able to snatch a few shots of him with the paper before he tried to tear it up or walk on it. The paper is now put up in a safe place where neither Tiffany or Jett can get to it. Here is Jett showing me where Obama is.

Last week was a busy one, as we worked in the yard for two days straight planting flowers. I know nothing about gardening, by my mother in law is wonderful, and she tells me that now is the time to plant some of my favorite things, such as hydrangea's, peonies, hosta's, etc. Jett loves "helping" us in the gardens. The bulldozer is actually quite appropriate since our yard still looks like construction zone.

Saturday was a long day for us. It is a really long story, so I will break it down for you.
1:00PM: Bobby let's Tiffany out
1:30PM: Jett and I leave for a birthday party
2:30PM: Bobby calls me and informs me that he can't find Tiffany
3:00PM: Bobby still hasn't found her and continues to drive around the neighborhood
3:30PM: I leave the party, head home, and drive around asking everyone if they have seen her. Nobody had.
4:00PM: I get home and Bobby and I start walking (me wearing heels)
4:30PM: We separate. He goes one way, I go the other. He has phone, I do not.
5:00PM: Found Dog sign spotted by me on a post. I begin running to find Bobby.
5:15PM: Neighbor sees me and asks if I need to use her phone. I have never met this lady, she is new to the neighborhood, and thankfully super nice because I went in her house and used her phone. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
I call the number, the dog was Tiffany (Thank the Lord!!!). I then call Bobby and we head to the Humane Society to pick her up. A lady saw her running around without her collar (I know, I know....I took it off to treat her with Front line and hadn't put it back on yet). We finally got her at around 6:00, and we were all SO happy to see her!! She is the sweetest baby girl dog ever, and the warmest blanket anyone could ask for at night.

After we got home, we all snuggled up, popped popcorn, and watched Chicken Little.
Jett loved it, and stayed awake until the last 15 minutes of the movie. He got a little bored about mid-movie and had to push his train around the table a few times, but eventually snuggled back up with us on the couch. The next day he kept saying "go watch Chicken Noodle upstairs". He is so stinkin' cute and funny.

Jett using Tiffany as a pillow. How precious are these two?!?

Well, tomorrow is the Eagles concert with mom, and then the big 2nd birthday party on Saturday. I am sure next week's post will have tons of pictures. Have a great week!
