On the road again.....

On Monday Amy, Jett, Abby and I headed to Arkansas to shop at a great little outdoor shopping plaza that I found a few weeks ago. Now, those of you who know me know that I don't particularly enjoy shopping for and/or buying things for myself, but I LOVE to shop and buy things for Jett. It is pretty much my favorite past time aside from playing with him. More fun than the shopping was getting to spend time on the road chatting with Amy and catching up. We have been best friends since we were in Junior High, but until we had our kiddo's, we didn't keep in touch as well as we both would have liked. After Jett was born, we decided that we were going to get together once a week and I was a little nervous about how long that would last. We have done a great job sticking to it and I am SO glad! It is so important to me that Abby and Jett grow up together and are always close (or husband and wife). :)
Here are some fun pictures from our trip:

Me and Amy

I LOVE this kid so much! Is he not just the sweetest thing ever?!?!?!?

Panda Jett (I suspect one day he will hate me for putting these hats on him)

Is this the face of Cover Girl 2025? I think so!

As you can see, what had a fabulous time. I think we were all exhausted by the end of the day. We loaded up and headed back to Tulsa around 6:30, thinking that we would make it home before it got too late. We were driving along and chit chatting away when I noticed that our surroundings were not looking familiar. I had Amy pull off to a nearby gas station so I could ask how to get back to 412, only to discover that we had missed our exit and somehow ended up past Fayettville. Oops! Needless to say, we arrived in Tulsa much later than we had planned so I put Jett straight to bed without even putting his PJ's on him. He slept so hard that when I went to get him up the next morning, this is what I found....

Bad case of bed head!!! Seriously, I laughed for about 30 minutes.

A few other fun things this week were pulling out some of Jett's puzzles and playing with them for the first time, and Jett feeding himself spaghetti O's with a spoon for the first time. He has several puzzles that make noises, and the animal one is his favorite so far.

Jett has never been a big fan of touching foreign objects such as grass, rocks, vienna sausages, or anything slimy or prickly for that matter, so I decided to let him try to eat with a spoon instead of picking up the noodles with his fingers. He started off pretty clean, but after a while was a total mess and he even started picking up the O's with his fingers and smashing them everywhere and rubbing them across his high chair tray. Whatta boy! I was so proud of him. Enjoy the pic's and have a good week!

Nursery sans changing table

There wasn't much going on in the Goldsworthy house this week, as we were all still recovering from the not-so-fun stomach flu. Notice I said say "we"? Last week you might recall that Bobby and Jett were both ill, but at the beginning of this week, I became the latest casualty of the yucky bug. As of now, we are all doing well and feeling like ourselves again. Since we were just hanging out around the house this week, I decided to take advantage of being at home, and decided to move Jett's changing table out of his room. He has really been too big for it for quite some time, and besides that, I really needed to move in his chest of drawers since both of his closets are packed full. I have been putting this off for weeks because it makes me so sad to think that he is getting to be such a big boy. What am I ever going to do when he is too big for his crib?!?! I just love that little guy SO much, and I keep trying to remind myself that although time is passing so quickly, he does get much more fun and more and more interactive every day. Here are some quick pictures of his room sans changing table.

Brushing his teeth is still a favorite of Jett's, which I am taking full advantage of at the moment because I am sure the day will come that he fights me on it. He particularly likes Bobby's battery powered toothbrush. I think it tickles his gums. Here is a picture of him using daddy's toothbrush....and we wonder why we all got sick.

Getting ready in the morning is also a challenge with an active 1 year old, so I distract with snacks. I begin the process with toys, but when those get boring, I break out the goldfish. Yum Yum!

Bobby and I were noticing that it isn't toys that entertain Jett, as much as his his attempts to carry things up and down all of the steps in our house. Our house is multi-level with steps pretty much every where you look, and Jett is determined to lift each and every one of his toys up and down all of them. It is extremely entertaining to watch him attempt to lift toys that are almost as big as he is up and down the steps. Perhaps the funniest part of this process is listening to him grunt and groan while he is doing so. This picture is of Jett and one of the smaller toys.

That's about all I have time for tonight. Amy and I are taking a road trip tomorrow with the kiddo's so I have some last minute packing to do. Have a great week!

Under the weather and 1 yr. pix (finally)

What a week this has been in the Goldsworthy household. Thursday I had what seemed to be the worst migraine headache ever. Friday Jett caught some kind of nasty stomach virus and vomited all day long. And Saturday Bobby became the unlucky recipient of the same bug Jett had and is still under the weather. Geez! I am ready for everyone to get well so that I can disinfect every last inch of this house.
Fortunately, Jett was only puny for about 1 full day and then he began to perk back up to his happy, jolly, playful self. Thank goodness! I hate when he is feeling bad. Because of him being sickly, we stayed in the house for a few days (talk about cabin fever!) and lounged around in our comfy clothes(a.k.a PJ's). If you thought I took tons of pictures before, barracade me in the house for a few days with a baby as cute as Jett and with nothing else to do and watch out! Get ready for picture overload. These are some random pictures from this week.

A few of Jett's favorite things. Brushing his teeth....

Playing with his Prince Jett mylar birthday balloon (half deflated)....

Playing in Mommy's canisters and coffee packets(disclaimer: I am standing directly in front of him at all times. As soon as the picture as over, he was removed from the counter)....

"Mowing" our carpet. Jett loves his singing mower. He has the vaccuming thing perfected. He must get that from his momma!

Also this weekend we spent some time on the back yard upstairs deck. This was the first time I have ever taken Jett out to the big deck. He has been out on the smaller front deck, but I think he was a little unsure of the big one out back. He kept looking through the slats in the wood under his feet, and it took him a while to get brave enough to take steps. I am not sure why he seemed leary of the back deck. Maybe it's because we don't have as much furniture out on that one and it seems more open?

Today Jett seemed to be feeling back to his normal self, as he was playing and jumping all over the furniture and chasing me and Tiffany around the house. After we played in the house for a while, I decided he was well enough to go do a little outdoor shopping at Utica Square, and take a quick walk around Woodward Park. Plus, I figured Bobby could use some peace and quiet for resting. Here are some pictures from today.

Finally, Amy and I went Friday night to pick up Jett and Abby's pictures. My mom, as always, came to the rescue when I called and asked her if she would mind staying with Jett while I ran to get the pictures and then to the grocery store. What would we do without Gramma?!? Here are his pictures. Remember, these are pictures of pictures, so the original prints are much better, but you get the idea. Enjoy!

I hope everyone has a fabulouse week! Amy and I are gearing up for a fun road trip to Arkansas next week with Abby and Jett to do some shopping. Who knew that Arkansas had better shopping than Tulsa? Or maybe it is just something different.

Happy New Years 2008

I hope that everyone had a great New Years. I apologize for another late post, but my husband decided that we needed a new TV, so we have spent the last 2 days re-organizing our entire home to accomodate the new purchase. Fun! As of this evening, our home is officially back in some sort of order. I think Jett was confused as to why we were moving things around, and why there was furniture in the middle of his play areas, which would be the whole downstairs really. We never allow him upstairs, mainly because it is more of an area for entertaining, but also because I am terrified that he is somehow going to be able to knock down the baby gate and fall down the stairs. New Years Day I was up there putting some things away so, of course Jett was up there with me. He decided that he was going to bounce up and down on the couch in the game room while standing up. These pictures pretty much show his exact personality these days....brave, daring, and extremely independent.

Check this out...I can stand on the furniture

And hop up and down while standing....

Why aren't you on my side Tiffany???

Jett is so much fun. Every day he just seems to get sillier, sweeter, and so much more fun. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE he newborn stage and miss it incredibly, but it is so much fun to watch him grow and learn new things. The other night he was worn out after a busy day of running errands, and while I was addressing Thank You cards, he got quiet. This is what I turned around to find...

Jett was wiped out on the hard ceramic tile in the kitchen. He was smart enough to at least use a oven mit and glove as a pillow though. He is such a sweetie pie!

This past weekend we took a FABULOUS trip to Arkansas to visit my cousin's and my aunt, who is recovering from a fall in a nursing home in Springdale. Jett, who is usually very stranger shy was actually being unusually sociable and friendly. Here are some pictures from our visit with Aunt Beulah, and a few from my cousin Sue's house.

After we left the nursing home we rushed to Rogers to squeeze in a few hours of shopping at a fantastic shopping center called Pinnacle Hills Promenade. They had great stores and I discovered a new favorite children's boutique called 3 Monkeys. Jett got a lot of new fun things. Shoes, clothes, and baby legs (pictures will follow in future posts) and then I went next door to the Bath Junkie and picked up a few things for myself. I have always loved Arkansas, but now I have another excuse to make more frequent trips! Here is a cute picture of Jett on his daddy's shoulders while shopping. That's all I have for now. Everyone have a great week!
