This week has been busy, busy, busy for us. While I was shopping at the Pottery Barn Kids a few weeks ago, I learned that they do a book club every Tuesday morning.
I was so excited because Jett's pediatrician suggested that I get him involved in something where he would have interaction with other children, but I have resisted because I didn't want to leave him. This is PERFECT because I can stay with him the entire time. This past Tuesday was our first morning and I was a little nervous about how he would socialize with the other kiddos. He did fabulous (if you don't count the whining when another little boy snatched his car away when he wasn't looking). I think we are going to have to work on sharing. Here is a picture of him getting out of the car before story time.
Monday Jett and I had lot's of running around to do and then we met my mom for lunch.
After his nap his hair was kind of crazy so I decided to style it in a little mohawk.
Pretty cute, huh? He got lots of compliments everywhere we went.
Tuesday night it was back out to midtown for me for my Yoga class, and then Thursday evening Jett and I attended a Taste of Home party at my friend Liz's house. It was a great time and I am thinking about hosting a party in the next month or so for those who are interested. Friday night we met Amy and Abby at Target to shop around for a little while. You know your a mommy when you meet your best girlfriend at Target on a Friday night for fun. Things were much different 10 years ago! It is definately much more fun now though. Saturday morning was chilly but Jett wanted to go outside so bad. I put his heavy coat and hat on him (over his PJ's, please excuse his mismatched ensamble). He had so much fun running up and down the street.
Saturday evening we had dinner at the most fantastic restaurant with Bobby's co-workers. It is a Brazilian Steakhouse called The Gaucho and I highly reccommend it!
I am not a meat eater and I think I ate more than anyone. Yum, Yum. Tonight Jett and I went to April's Oscar Party with my mom and Jett had a great time! He played so hard that he was doing everything he could to stay awake. Before the party we snapped a few pictures outside since the sun was finally out. Yeah!! Here is Jett looking cool in his shades. I know I say this all of the time, but I just love him SO much. He is so sweet that I could just take a bite out of him. The last picture is of him and a little boy at the party who is the same age as Jett. That's all for now. I had a few glasses of sangria and I am tired! Have a great week.

Valentine's Day 2008!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day last Thursday. I found Jett the cutest little shirt at Target not long after Christmas and I couldn't wait to put it on him. Valentine's Day is such a big day around our house because it is the first "holiday" that Bobby and I had together after we started dating, it is the day we got engaged, and also the day I got the gift that will forever keep on giving...Jett (he was born November 17th, I will let you do the math). I consider myself a very lucky girl because Bobby has got the be the king of gift giving. I think I can remember every gift he has ever given me for Valentine's Day because they have all been so great! He didn't let me down this year. He surprised me with a new Chloe Handbag and a new cell phone. I should have known something was up when he wanted me to check out the Neiman Marcus website about 3 weeks ago to see if I liked the design and then never mentioned it again. Sneaky, Sneaky. What a guy! For those of you who haven't known us long, Bobby loves to shop and spend money, and I am a tight wad and stash money away (must be the inner banker in me). I am saying this because I am going to take you back a few years to show what a great guy Bobby really is. Here goes.....
We are in New York City 2005. We have been shopping like crazy all day on 5th Avenue and arrive at SAKS. We browse around and I find the most fabulous (not to mention ridiculously expensive) Salvatore Ferragamo handbag I have ever seen. I continue to shop around and always end up back at the same handbag.
Bobby: Babe, do you want that purse?
Amber: No way. There is NO way I am paying that much for a handbag. Besides, I already have several nice ones.
Bobby: Yeah, but you really like this one. Just get it. If you don't, you will wish you had later.
Amber: No. I don't need it. It sure is pretty though.
Bobby: Are you SURE you don't want it?
Amber: Yes, I'm sure
Bobby: Are you really, really sure?
Amber: I am sure. It is insane to spend that much money on a purse.
We leave SAKS and head for the car. We drive for about 20 minutes and I start thinking about how Bobby has just purchased 2 pairs of Ferragamo shoes AND a pair of Prada shoes along with several other things, and I all have bought were a few items for the house from Crate and Barrell (on sale of course), as I am always trying to be the more reasonable one of the two of us. I start crying.
Bobby: What is wrong?
Amber: Nothing
Bobby: Something is wrong, you are crying
Amber: It's just that I try so hard to be rational and responsible and I feel like I always end up doing without things that I really want to justify your spending.
Bobby turns the car around, drives another hour (we only had about 15 miles to go but that takes forever in NYC traffic) through Manhattan in 5:00 traffic with cars cutting him off and honking at him, he pulls up to the front of SAKS and parks illegally, leaves the car running with me crying inside, goes in and purchases me the handbag. See.....this is why he is such a great Valentine/hubby/"baby daddy". It is funny now, but he did NOT think it was funny at the time.
Now, 3 years later, he is just as great and we are so blessed to have Jett in our lives to share Valentine's Day with! It seems like Bobby and I are always talking about how much we love him, and how much greater our lives are since he has arrived. It is just wild how obsessed we are with him. Jett also has a special Valentine this year and her name is Abby! We are also very thankful that we have the Coatney's in our lives. We just adore Abby and think she is the most precious little girl in the world, and they adore Jett just as much. Amy and I dressed them in their cute Valentine's Day attire and tried to get a few shots of them together the other night, and this is what we came up with. What a cute couple!
On Valentines Day, I treated Jett to a special Valentine's Day cupcake. He loved it!
Here are a few shots of him indulging.
Jett also loves to share with Tiffany. Everything we give him, he takes a bite and then gives Tiffany a bite. Here is a funny picture I took the other night of Tiffany trying to steal Jett's graham cracker from him. I promise, her teeth have never hurt him! Please do not call child protective services. She is very gentle with him.
I hope everyone has a great week! We are looking forward to attending next weekend's big Oscar Party with my mom. The theme food this year is home cookin' so I am trying to come up with something interesting to make.

T-Shirt and croc's in February?!?
Yep, that's what I said. It was so gorgeous outside on Monday that I put Jett in a play T-shirt and his croc's and we headed outdoors. For the past several months I have had to get up at the crack of dawn before he wakes up to go run because it is entirely to cold to have him outside for that length of time. Let me just say that I am SO looking forward to every day being like last Monday so he can enjoy the outdoors with me because he really likes being outside. I put him in his wagon and pulled him around the neighborhood, and you can tell by his cheesy grin that he had a great time!
It was also nice outside on Saturday so before we left the house to run around, I took Jett outside and let him toddle around in the front yard. We are on such a steep hill that it is pretty comical to watch him try to walk up and down the driveway and keep his balance. I had to finally make him hold my hand (which he hated...Mr. Independence!) so that he wouldn't fall over.
Now it appears that it is going to be cold for a while again. As you can see from the following pictures, Jett is also OK with sitting on the chair in my room and looking out the window with Tiffany. These two crack me up! He loves her so much, although I am not sure that she always feels the same way about him. She does a great job at tolerating him though even though I know sometimes she would rather him leave her alone.
I am still getting used to the big boy haircut. I have always like it, but it still makes me sad that he really looks like a toddler now. When I get sad thinking about how fast the past year has gone, it helps to think about how much fun and interactive Jett is now...and happy! He smiles and laughs all of the time, and the only time he fusses is when he is tired and wants to be held, which is fine with me because I love snuggling with him. I am getting a little nervous about the lack of discipline we have in our home. Jett doesn't like his stroller so we carry him everywhere, he doesn't like his high chair so we take turns eating while he eats from our laps, and he doesn't like to bathe alone so I let him take shower's with me. I know that we need to break him of his bad habits, but I know that he will cry and I hate that worse than anything. If anyone knows of a trick, let me know! Have a great week!

No more mullett
The time finally came this weekend for me to suck it up and finally let Jett have his first big boy haircut. I have dreaded this day for a long time because I couldn't bring myself to cut off those beautiful little red curls. I have been agonizing about it since I made the appointment several weeks ago. My little baby is getting so big, and it is happening entirely too fast. Here is a picture of him and Tiffany looking out the window one night last week after his bath. Notice the pre-haircut "Jett Dirt mullett" as Bobby called it.
At the the salon, we had to distract Jett by giving him french fries while Missa used the sheers. To my surprise, he was a perfect little angel and did not even flinch. I think everyone was pretty shocked. I think it might have had something to do with the fry distraction technique. Whatever works! Doesn't he look cute in his smock?
And finally, the new big boy hair cut! Sniff, Sniff...I must say it does look super cute. What a handsome guy! Bobby said to me this morning "He looks so cute with his haircut....maybe people will stop telling me what a gorgeous little girl I have now". As sad as it was to cut off those curls, it was worth it. What a cutie!
Jett was doing so well with his vocabulary for a while. We were able to understand duck, quack, bottle, juice, Tiff, daddy, momma, Nenal, see, this, that, ball, Papa, and several others. After talking to several people before he was born about doing baby sign language, we opted not too. However, Jett has gotten spoiled recently to us giving him whatever he wants without making him attempt to say the word. Now all he does is point and say "uuh, uuh". Urgh!!! We will try to make his say things, but he just continues to point and grunt. I guess we should have done baby sign language, huh? Bobby's mom only speaks Korean to him and lets him watch Korean TV, so Bobby and I always joke than when he is jabbering (which he does quite often) that he is speaking Korean. Ha! He does know some Korean words, and he definately recognizes what Bobby and his mom are saying when they speak to him.
Jett LOVES to play. He loves for us to chase him, for him to chase us, for us to toss him on the bed, and he loves all of his toys that make noises or do something.
His favorite is still the lawn mower, but he also enjoys the new ball toy that Bobby brought home the other night for him. Here are some pictures from this week.
This is a cool new toy dad
I'm gonna get you Mommy
This bed is like a trampoline!
Finally, tonight was the Super Bowl. Amy's husband is sick and my husband obligated himself to help one of his employees work on something, so Amy and I took the kids and went to one of her co-worker's house for a Super Bowl Party. It was great to see her and Abby, and Jett LOVED the other kids. I was so relieved because he has never been around any other children besides Abby. His pediatrician even suggested that I put him in a mother's day out program to get him used to socializing with other kids his age. I have hesitated though because I just hate the thought of leaving him. After tonight though, I definately think he would love being around other kids occassionally. Here's one last picture of Amy and me. Abby was sleeping, and Jett screeched and squealed when we tried to make him let loose of his mower, so we didn't get them in the picture with us.
One last thing! I found the most fabulous baby boutique in Tulsa this weekend. It is called gaga-a-gogo. I have passed it many times on the way to Utica and Yoga, but never had a chance to stop. I made a point to run by there Saturday morning and I am so glad that I did. If you have never been there, you must go!!
