Week 2 of being couch potatos....

Well, I just spend about 15 minutes typing this post, and something happened and it all disappeared. Urgh!! Rather than typing the whole thing again, I will just go over the highlights. Basically, another boring week around our house, we are sad the Olympics are over, we joined the Aquatic Club, I have started training for my upcoming races (it's that time of year again), and Jett is still the beautiful, smart, charming, intelligent, perfect little angel he has always been:) Can you tell we are still completely obsessed with him? I must mention though since I am always bragging about him, that he has gotten a wee bit (OK, so a lot) bossy lately. I don't think he realizes it, or he does and I am living in denial, but familiar phrases I hear daily are, "give it to me", "mommy go get it", "daddy go get it", and "NO!" among many others. Still cute coming from his little mouth in his sweet little voice, but we are definitely working on the whole "say please and thank you" thing. He is good at "thank you", but we are still struggling with "please".
Also, my camera is broke, so the pictures I have taken recently are horrible quality. I need to get it in the shop, but I shudder at the thought of being without it. Here are some pictures of my cutie pa-tootie the other night at bedtime.
Mommy's little helper. Jett insists on throwing away diapers, and putting dirty clothes in the hamper.

The driver on the bus says "Move on back...."

As you can see, we are still book fanatics. Everywhere Jett goes, a book goes as well. Since we did nothing exciting (again) this week, here are a few more after bath pictures of Jett the other night. He was reading, brushing his teeth, and being silly. Bobby ran to Walgreens for medicine one night and came home with Jett's "Dude, your girlfriend keeps checking me out" shirt. He was so cute and excited about it that he woke me up after midnight to show it to me. He also bought himself a shirt that says "I love hot moms" that he wore when I came home from the triathlon a few weeks ago. Too funny!

Yum! Jett spends more time sucking the toothpaste off the brush than he does scrubbing his teeth and gums.

Gymnastics Jett style...

That's all I have for this week. Hopefully next week will be more exciting!

Glued to the tube

I would love to be able to say that we have done something productive this week, but rather than make something up, I will just be honest and admit that we have been glued to the tube since last Saturday. When we are here, we are watching the Olympics, when we are gone, the good ole' DVR is making sure we don't miss anything! I am quite certain Jett has no idea what has come over us, as we normally are not much of a TV watching family. I don't know that Jett has ever really watched anything on TV now that I think about it, other than occasionally his Baby Praise and Worship videos, and our Baby Einstein videos in the car every now and again. Boy have we made up for that this week! Jett really doesn't act too interested in anything other than swimming. As soon as he sees a pool on the big screen, he starts squealing "swimming, swimming!!!" That's my boy! The rest of the time, he is much more interested in playing with his Sonic Wacky Pack toy, and doing "one, two, three, ready, get set, GO!", on our pillows in the living room.

As I mentioned, Jett LOVES swimming. He is not afraid of the water at all, and will even put his head under and jump off of the side. Thursday Amy and I decided to take him and Abby to the gym for a swim. I didn't take the camera into the pool area, but I got a few cute shots of the kiddo's in the locker room area.

Today we met Amy, Steve, and Abby at the Aquatic Center for another swimming play date. I went ahead an got Jett enrolled today in the next swim class they are conducting, and it starts in October. I am so excited about this because it lasts 8 weeks, so we will still be able to be in the water when it is too cold to swim outside. Yippee!! I did find out, however, that little swimmer diapers are not allowed in their pool. Therefore, we had to purchase a nice little speedo type diaper that they sell in the gift shop (of course). Bobby said he looked like a European baby.

I should also mention that my sweet angle baby turned 21 months old today. Time just passes way too fast when you have a little one around. Bobby and I talked all weekend about how funny he is, and how much he has changed in the past 6 months. He talks non-stop and you can pretty much understand everything he says. He talks in complete sentences most of the time, and although he has been able to count to ten in English for quite some time, he has learned in the past week to count to ten in Korean as well. We are both amazed that he can recite word for word the following books: Goodnight Moon, I went Walking, and Go Dog! Go. Even if you open the book in the middle, he can tell you exactly that that page says (by the picture of course). Books are his new favorite "toy", but he is also obsessed with cars. Not toy ones, but real ones. He will grab our hands, walk us into the kitchen, and say "go get daddy's keys, go drive daddy's truck." He also knows the difference between my keys, and bobby's keys, and you cannot trick him! He is an amazing little guy and we love him more than anything in he world. Now, for one last picture. This was taken tonight after we got home from swimming and going out to eat dinner. Jett was so incredibly tired, and as soon as we got out of the shower, he passed out on the bathroom floor as I was putting lotion on him. See what I mean about how sweet this kid is. Such a doll baby. No worries though, I did re-locate him to his crib. Have a great week!

On the road again....

After an exhausting, hot, sleepless, and a bit stressful weekend in Oklahoma City a week ago, Amy and I decided to once again attempt yet another road trip with Abby and Jett. This time was much more successful! We had two well rested, happy babies and the trip was an absolute blast. We left Friday morning and headed for Rogers, Arkansas where we did a little outdoor shopping at the Promenade. We then headed to Fayettville where we did a little more shopping and met up with my cousins for dinner. After dinner, we stopped in Springdale to visit my cousin's mom before heading back to Tulsa. It was a long day, and after departing from my cousin's house around 9:00 and making almost all the way out of Tontitown before realizing I had left my purse, heading back to Springdale to retrieve it, leaving once again only to realize that Amy had left her cell phone and going back to retrieve it, I finally arrived home around 1:00am. What more could be expected from two blonde mommies traveling with 2 kiddo's under 2? This is what makes life so fun and exciting, right!?!? Now for the pictures from our trip.

Jett and his sour cream and cheddar ruffles face. Gotta love a messy baby boy!

Attempting a group picture. This is as good as it gets!

Outside by the water fountain. Jett loves throwing pennies in the water.

Little Miss Hollywood

At my cousin's house in Springdale. The cute blonde in the middle is my cousin Melanie. Amy and I used to spend every other weekend with Melanie when we were 15 and she was 2. Doesn't seem like she should be 18. YIKES!!

And last but not least, the pictures of Jett fascinated by the puppy in the back yard, and my cousin riding the tractor.

That's about all I have for now, other than mentioning that I have gotten completely obsessed with the Olympics. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall about an hour ago when the US won the gold in the men's freestyle relay. I am sure Bobby and I must have looked like fools hooting and hollering in the living room while jumping up and down as if it was going to make them swim any faster. Good times!

OKC Zoo + Triathlon = our busy weekend

This weekend Jett and I took a road trip to OKC with our friends Amy and Abby. I had a triathlon on Sunday morning at 5:30am (yuck!), so we decided to just drive up on Saturday, take the kids to the zoo, and make a fun weekend out of it! Aside from the hotel not being able to find our reservation, the 103+ degree heat, and neither of the kids sleeping more than 3 or 4 hours Saturday night, we had a great time! We laughed about it on the way home, but I am thinking we might have been so tired that anything seemed funny. Due to the extreme heat and Kattfest (a huge concert with several bands that don't sing, but scream), we didn't stay at the zoo more than a few hours. I borrowed a double stroller from a friend of mine and it was WONDERFUL! Thanks a million Tricia. Here are some pic's!
"This is a great new ride, mom!"

Awe.....this is what innocence looks like!

Jett overheated and checking out the bears

"Here Abby, this red sugary slush is fantastic!"

Jett and the "nice kitties"

After the zoo and the really long night, I had to wake up at 5 a.m. for the triathlon. After hardly any sleep and participating in such an event, I did not look any kind of glamorous for a picture. I am usually not funny about primping for pics, but I honestly wouldn't put anyone through the torture of looking at pictures of me tired and sweaty. Here is one funny picture of my leg markings after the tri. I realize it looks like I have been baking in a tanning bed, but I promise I haven't. I have gotten some sun from training outside, but I think Bobby had the flash on a funny mode and it made my legs look nice and leathery.

Last week I introduced Jett to cucumbers for the first time and he loved them!! I cut them up like sliced pickles and he was in cucumber heaven. Isn't he just the most darling thing you have ever seen gnawing on a cucumber?
