Our Little Pumpkin

This week my mom, Jett, and I carved Jett's first Jack-O-Latern. I thought that it was my first time to carve a Jack-O-Latern also, but my mom assured me that when I was young we always carved pumpkins. Apparently, 15 years ago carving a pumpkin meant cutting out triangle eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Now days they have those neat pumpkin carving kits that are pretty intricate and difficult. We chose an easy bat pattern to do since it was mine and Jett's first time. My mom does them each year, so she was there to help me correct things when I got a little crazy with the little carving knife. Here are some before, during, and after pics of the Jack-O-Lantern, and my little Punkin' Jett.

Thursday my friend Amy and I started back up with our weekly Cheesecake Factory "dates" again. Amy and I have never had a problem having a great time together, but I think now that we have Abby and Jett, we have more fun than ever. There is definately never a dull moment. Aside from a really poor waiter, we had a great time and finished off our evening with a trip to the mall. When we got home Thursday night I checked the mail and Jett had received his Halloween card from my mom. Here are some pictures of him checking it out.

Saturday was my BIG day. The 30th annual Tulsa Run. I have been training for weeks and I will have to say, this was by far one of the easiest run's that I have done. I was a little concerned when I heard that we would be running on some "serious hills", so I busted my rear for weeks running through the hills in my neighborhood. After the run, I can't understand what "hills" they were talking about. They obviously have never run through Southridge Estates. At least I was prepared for the worst, right? Next weekend is the Jenks Half Marathon. I would like to sign up, but I am having a hard time finding much information on it. I am going to do some more checking around tomorrow. Here is a picture from after the Tulsa Run on Saturday. Shanna and I both beat our goal time, so hurray for us!

One last picture.....This morning I was putting cans of soda in the fridge, and Jett decided to start pulling things out of the bottom tray. I had my camera close by (as usual), so I had to snap a shot of my handsome little guy. I LOVE they way he looks when I first get him up in the mornings. I could just take a bite out of him he is so sweet!

First step and lots of time with Gramma

First off, let me apologize to all of my blogger readers who have e-mailed me today and said, "What's the problem? The blog is not updated!" I was so tired from the weekend that I got no further than downloading my pictures before I crashed. Jett and I started off our week with some shopping with Amy and Abby. Both of them were just precious and Amy and I enjoyed spending some time together with our kiddo's and laughing about all of the crazy things we did when we were younger that seem funny to us now, but would never be funny if one of our children did such a thing. Not that we were bad by any measure, but of course, we want our kids to be perfect. Ha!
Here is a cute picture of Jett and Abby all buckled in and ready to go. Whatta pair!

This week Bobby's mom and dad were out of town so my mom graciously took Wed. thru Fri. off to stay with Jett. They played, went to the park, and took Nenal to the eye Dr. I was just thinking this morning about how lucky Jett is to have so many people around him that love him so much. Our entire lives pretty much revolve around him and catering to his every need. Although, I am a little nervous because I was also thinking today about how Jett has never for one second been left with anyone besides us or someone in our family, and he is a little stranger shy. This is making me nervous, as I am not sure how he is going to handle all of the attention at his first birthday party....we'll see. Bobby and I attended an adult only costume party on Saturday night. Our friends own the Safari's Sanctuary in BA, and every year they host a fabulous costume/Halloween party. I had to post this picture of Bobby and I pre-party. You should see the costumes out there. I was seriously more modest than most of the wives/girlfriends there. I am so bad, but I took the costume back on Sunday. I know that is terrible, but am pretty sure that I will never again be dressed as a skanky pirate. :) I also posted a picture of Jett with Bobby's mask on, and one of him eating a fry while I was getting ready. That was daddy's idea of "feeding" Jett. Gramma once again came to the rescue and stayed with Jett for a few hours while we were gone.

Sunday we had a birthday party for Nenal at my mom's house. It was a lot of fun and Jett always enjoyes playing with my mom's dogs (Ttt, Ttt, Ttt). This is what Jett calls all dogs. He tries to say Tiffany, but all that comes out is the T sound, and he thinks that all dogs are Tiffany's (or Ttt, Ttt, Ttt's). He is learing that ducks go "quack, quack", and he will quack when he see's his rubber duckies. We just get the biggest kick out of him. The exciting news about Jett is that he took a step! OK, so it was just one step and daddy was the lucky one to see it, but it still counts. I was in the kitchen, and I heard Bobby yell through the monitor, "Babe, hurry! hurry! Jett just took a step!" I ran back to his bedroom and we tried to get him to do it again but he wasn't interested. He is excellent at standing on his own though and he even bounces up and down while doing it. He definately has good balance. He also has starting calling out for me. Before, he would jabber all types of things and never really mean too much by it, but now he will call out "Momma,Momma, Momma". I love it SO much. Most of the time he does this when he is tired or fussy, but I will take what I can get! Here are the pictures from Sunday.

Jett's new favorite toy is his Go Diego Go ball that Gramma bought him last week (Tiffany popped his other one). He LOVES to chase the ball around and has learned to "throw" it. Poor Tiffany. Before Jett came along, we would say "Go get your ball", and she would run all over the house until she found it and bring it to us. Now when we say that to Jett, she gets all excited and crazy and I have to yell at her to calm down. Poor girl, before Jett she was the center of our attention, and now she gets yelled at for doing exactly what we worked so hard to teach her to do. I am trying to work on not being so harsh with her. I am just so afraid that she is going to accidentally hurt Jett playing too rough. I think they are going to be best buds. Here are some pictures from tonight. Enjoy and have a great week!

Mommy's B-day & a visit to the Pumpkin Patch

Let me just start by saying that I had been dreading last Friday for an entire year. I couldn't figure out which was more depressing, the fact that on Friday I would turn the big 3-0, or that in a little over a month Jett would be turning the big 1. I am thinking now that neither were/will be that bad. Friday Jett and I took a trip to Owasso to visit my good friends that I left behind at First Bank, do a little shopping, and have dinner with mom and Nenal for my birthday. We had a great time, and of course, Jett made our evening by discovering while riding in the back of the cart at Target, that his shoes had squeakers in them. My mom bought him an ADORABLE pair of squeaky training shoes, and for whatever reason, he landed on one just right and heard them squeak For the rest of the evening he was hopping and bouncing up and down in the back of the cart to hear them make noise. We all (and everyone else in the store) got a kick out our silly boy. Saturday was a busy day also. Jett was invited to a birthday party (it was a Disney Princess theme, so I had to make sure he was equipt with his Prince Charming pacifier). From the party, we came home, picked up Bobby, and headed to meet Amy,Steve, and Abby at The Melting Pot for dinner. We had a wonderful time and ate entirely too much. After dinner Amy, Steve, and Abby come over to our house to hang out with us for a little while. Jett enjoyed playing around on the floor and would pat or poke at Abby every once and a while when he would notice her. Amy and I also realized that we have known each other and been friends for half of our lives at this point. Now that is what I call a great friend! We love those Coatney's. Here are some pictures from Saturday. (The first one is of Jett riding in his new big boy car seat.)

Sunday Bobby and I took Jett to the Pumpkin Patch in Bixby. It was nice and had a fabulous fudge shop. Yum,Yum! At first Jett was not sure about being placed in the middle of hundreds of large orange objects, but after a few seconds he was fine and smiling. Notice in the picture of the scarecrow he looks a little terrified. He did love the animals though. Well, enjoy the pictures. Jett and I are going to try to meet up tomorrow with Amy and Abby for a little shopping,so I am going to hit the hay.

Jett's Big Adventures!

It has been quite an exciting week for our little guy. Not only did he get to enjoy a fun-filled day of shopping with mommy and gramma on Wednesday, but Jett also go to experience the Tulsa Zoo and the Tulsa State Fair for the first time. Wow! 2 fun things in one week. My friend/running buddy Shanna and I decided to sign up for the Tulsa Zoo run (10K)on Saturday morning at Mohawk Park. Since I was a runner, my guests (Jett and my mom) were able to get into the zoo free for the day. This worked out well for me because while we were running, mom and Jett got to walk around and look at all of the animals. Jett LOVES animals. He was especially fond of the giraffe's. I don't know if it was because of their odd looking long necks or the fact that they would walk up really close to the fence, but for whatever reason, Jett was in awe of them. He also enjoyed petting the baby goats and watching the fish swim around in the large aquarium. Here are some cute pictures of him enjoying his fun day at the zoo!

Also this weekend was Jett's first trip to the Tulsa State Fair. He isn't big enough yet to ride rides, but he liked looking at the animals and watching the people. He got to sit on the motor carts, 4 wheelers, and daddy's neck. Jett also got to experience cotton candy for the first time. Oddly enough, he was not a huge fan. I am sure our family dentist will be pleased! Here are our fun pic's of the fair. You can see by the last one that he was worn out by the time we left. And how cute is his "I listen to Guns-N-Roses with my Mommy" shirt?!? I hope you enjoy these pictures of this little Sweet Child of Mine. (Oh yeah, and what is it about the fair that makes you feel like you need to be power washed when you leave??)

Last week you may remember me saying that Jett is standing on his own and extending his arms up over his head when you ask him how big he is. Well, I didn't catch any pictures of him standing, although he is doing it much more frequently and for longer periods of time now, but I did snap a few shots of him showing me how big he is. Isn't he just the cutest thing?!?!? We think so. Have a great week!
